1) Uhh...a lot of ASM hacking
2) I think some has done that before. Was it MarioFanatic64? /Ndymario thinks...\

I'm having trouble replacing *blie_coin.nsbmd*, every single time, doesn't matter what model I replace it with, it crashes my game.... any ideas why?

Your model must be the problem. Have you tried replacing the file with your custom Star Coin model, just recoloured? I tried using the Shine Sprite from here, importing it over both coin.nsbmd and blie_coin.nsbmd, then I exported blie_coin.nsbmd's palette, recoloured it with GIMP and imported the bitmap – it worked normally. I also tested replacing blie_coin.nsbmd with kuribo.nsbmd and km1_dorifu.nsbmd and it worked just fine.

By the way, I'm not experienced in model hacking at all, so maybe others could help.

I'm not sure, but I think it might be in the particle folder, which means it probably isn't editable.

Probably elec.nsbmd. I might point out, you should try to look for files yourself and follow my advice here, which applies for all kinds of NSMB hackers, not only newcomers or newbies.

okay, so I've tried looking through almost every graphics file, and I can't find that little starcoin image that pops up at the buttom once its been collected... I even tried what Asprok said, and that didn't work, sooo... if anyone knew where that was, that would be great! thats the last thing I need to complete my custom HUD

I don't remember the exact name, but it's stored in the uiStudio folder.

Its name is something like "ui_bottom_2d etc".

Try the one said by Poudnik.

So I just noted you can test levels without exiting the emulator and starting it again. I found out that you can do some edits while the game is running on the world map and once you enter the level, the changes will take place.

Please tell me I wasn't the only one just noting this now...
(I guess it just stuck, since editing SNES games like SMK and SMW do require to exit the game and load it again)

Did you test this thoroughly?

I tried on both DeSmuME and No$GBA with no results whatsoever.

Also if this were true, it would be interesting since you could change more than just the levels, and then see if it works without the need to restart.

I already knew about it, thought I noticed that you need to restart if you edit the jyotyu tileset.
