Super Mario Star Collect is an NSMB romhack I'm making that has SM64-like gameplay, where you have to collect stars. The folllowing video contains only one of the three missions I've made for this level.


I don't need help with anything other than code hacking and music composing. Note that I don't need either of those to do this hack, they would just be a nice bonus.

I'll post a demo whenever I finish the first world.

You can use this tutorial so you actually have to select which one of the three Star Coins you want to get at first. ;) I wish you luck for this! I'm looking forward to it.

By the way, isn't it too soon to use Bill cannons? And your level design is a little flat. You have to put a little decoration and make it more dynamic. Perhaps these tips may come in handy.

I wanted to show that the boss was well protected by it's koopa army it's cannons. I'll try to improve my level desing tho. It's just a bit hard for me because I'm a begginer.

I'll put some screenshots later, but I don't think there's enough stuff done for a download. It basically a highly improved version of the level I posted in the single level thread, wich was always meant to be in this hack.

Damn, if it continute like this, I'll have to give up on that mechanic on my hack

But regardless it looks good, I definitely get a SM64 vibe while watching this

I don't remember this idea being used in any hack except New Super Holiday Bros., which is most likely dead.

This is different than endless earth because instead of focusing on 1 huge level, this focus on multiple smaller levels that while not being gigantic, are still larger than the average so that the missions don't feel too long or too short. Like Mario 64.

Definitely a big difference between this hack and Endless Earth. This hack focuses on collecting Star Coins in a bunch of small levels whereas Endless Earth is one big world where Power Stars are essentially worthless

If you've put a zoom sprite to the right of Mario's entrance and given it these settings, then that is the maximum you can make it zoom the level (with currently known settings, at least):
Delay - anything that doesn't look glitchy (4+?) Zone width - 0 (unlimited) Zone height - 0 (unlimited) Zoom left - 24 (maximum) Zoom right - 24 (maximum)

If there are 3 Star Coin missions per stage, and there are 80 stages (85 if you include the Cannon levels), that makes 240-255 missions.
