you can't, no

but an ancient legend says you can turn the USA version into a Japanese version

you need:
* the USA ROM (genuine physical cart)
* an original model DS (not DS Lite)
* a copy of DeSmuME 0.6.0
* hair from Satoru Iwata
* a kitten
* a well sharpened knife
* a portion of ramen

first of all you need to dump the NSMB cart. it is important that you use the ROM from your cart and not one downloaded from the internet.

then, start boiling water in a saucepan. in the meantime, open the dumped NSMB ROM in DeSmuME 0.6.0. make sure the save type is set to EEPROM 64k and frameskip set to 7. go to the Options menu, set the sound option to Stereo and leave it like that, don't click Ok.

when the water is boiling, throw the ramen in.

as it starts cooking, insert the NSMB cart in your DS, start a new game, enter 1-1 and jump on the first block of the level, then stay there and don't move.

when the timer reaches 100, throw the Iwata hair in the saucepan.

when the timer reaches zero, use the knife to sacrifice the kitten. it is important to get the timing perfect.

as the ramen gets ready to serve, take the NSMB cart out of your DS and hack it with the uncleaned knife.

serve the ramen and have a good meal, you'll need it after all this.

dump the NSMB cart again.

if you did it right, you get a Japanese ROM. congrats!

can i use the following pattern to make a progress path? if so, how to do it? (Overground, Underground, Overground: ----__---)

Area 1 View 0: Progress Path 1
Area 2 View 1: Progress Path 2
Area 1 View 1: Progress Path 3

Hm, sorry I cannot tell what is wrong with the level.

The only thing I noticed is that the Star IDs are wrong. They should start at 0.
Doubt that that is the problem tho


No, they start at 1 not 0. 0 doesn't spawn while 1 and onward does

Eh, works for me.
Each view needs its progress path ID set correctly.

Here's 1-1 repurposed as a test level for that.
Area 1 (view 0 progress path ID 1, view 1 progress path ID 3)
Area 2 (view 0 progress path ID 2)

How do I get the Fire Mario and Luigi Caps Textures or Palettes? Because I have the bodies for both Fire Mario and Luigi but not the hats? I also looked in like mario_head_cap_LZ.bin, cap_model_LZ and all the other files

Anyway, have you looked in the tilesets from newer games thread?

That tileset is from the NSMB Me! pack by joietyfull64 if I remember correctly.

Also annoyed mods are being annoyed rn.
