It's true this hack is a mess and some of the sprites (like the whomp) do not look like gold, rather like paint yellow. Some of the parts are even lacking said color.

Though, you should look up the differences between gold and plain yellow. You probably cannot replicate the shading, but a less fluo color would already be an improvement.
