The Eternal Star has been found

Super Mario: Endless Earth is my fifth and final New Super Mario Bros. hack. This hack is the end of the chronology of my hacks as a collective series, and is my interpretation of Mario's final adventure.

Super Luigi: Endless Earth is a Luigi-only adventure in the mythological Endless Earth. Luigi can jump higher than Mario, but loses traction easily. Is Luigi's adventure another piece of a very important puzzle?

Between Mario and Luigi, this hack contains:
-An open-world overworld that is 16128x8192 pixels in size. (2,016 screen sizes in-game)
-A soundtrack containing 72 melodies, from classic tunes to brand new works.
-Over 30 themed environments.
-16 Fortresses, each with its own theme and core mechanic.
-A rich story that ties together references from all over the Mario canon.
-240 Power Stars scattered around the world to find.

In this game, we get to explore a whole new realm of the Mushroom World- not in levels, or small, chopped up segments of gameplay, but as one gigantic seamless world that's almost... endless! In the game world, you don’t have any set direction to head in. It's not just about heading straight for the goal- it's how you decide to get there that matters. You can head in any direction you like. Up, down, left, right- nowhere is off limits. You have to locate the goal. You'll progress by completing missions, by finding and conquering in-game fortresses. There are eight missions in each game, totaling sixteen missions in all. Power Stars replace the role of Star Coins- with 120 scattered throughout the game world in each game. Though they won't count for anything (your Power Stars won't be saved), they are a reward for curiosity and exploration.

The best analogy I think I can make for the game is that it's structured in a very similar way to the original The Legend of Zelda for the NES- in that you start off in a big world, and to progress you have to find dungeons and collect the Triforce.

In a 2D plane, this kind of gameplay is often referred to as reminiscent of games like Metroid and Castlevania, so if that's your thing, get ready for a Mario Metroidvania!

Super Mario: Endless Earth is aiming for a 2017 release, and Super Luigi: Endless Earth will be releasing right alongside it.

In 2012 I released my second NSMB hack, New Super Mario Bros. 5: Clone Tag Team which by today has been downloaded by over 10,000 people around the world. So shortly after finishing that project I put my other projects aside to work on a direct sequel that was new, and game changing. So far I believe that this is true. Clone Tag Team 2 is absolutely packed with content, features more creative and daring level design, new features, and a beautiful new graphic art style with a plethora of themes.

So here it is. Many of you have wondered what has been going on this last week or so, and this is the big surprise!

We decided that after 3 years, we need something to commemorate our achievements and how far we've come since we were just a little subforum at jul. So we've put a lot of work into putting together a collection of levels made by members of the community!

This is a 48-level hack, and it goes all the way from World 1-1 to the Final Castle. We have used levels from the The single levels thread!, various contest levels, and some hacks that were regrettably never finished. I myself even contributed a level straight from my upcoming hack.

So we hope you'll enjoy what we've put a lot of hard work into. This is a gift to us all. At last, the download link:

3 Years of the New Super Mario Bros. Hacking Domain.



This patch was made using a (U) ROM, but there's no reason it shouldn't work for an (E) ROM. As you should know, patches are applied to ROMs via the NSMB Editor.

As this isn't an 80 level hack, we had to remove some things. We didn't have time to get levels for the A,B,C levels, and Worlds 4 and 7 are completely empty. To stop people from going where they shouldn't, we've had to remove all secret exits and Star Coins.

As usual, this is a hack and we the staff are human. So if there are any notable mistakes or errors please inform us and we'll do our best to fix it.

Enjoy this hack, you guys deserve it.

Basically, this is what happens when someone tries to start a thread, revive a thread, or enthuse in conversation around here.



The only threads that survive more than a week before slowing to a glacial pace are the spammy ones which will last for months and spawn many clone threads, like that Ask thread plague a while back.

Just curious, but why are is everyone so... bashful around here? It's like most of the community just ignores any new activity.

The cat's out of the bag- after all this time, all my unwarranted attempts to hype this project up have finally come to this moment- the reveal and release of my fourth hack.

New Super Mario Advance is a complete remake of the NES's Super Mario Bros. 2 in NSMB. In this remake, the "unusual" gameplay of this fan favourite Mario game has been combined with the classic Mario elements that comes along with NSMB. On top of this, there are also alternate season variants for levels to rejuvenate all too familiar levels. Of course, there are original levels in this hack too, y'know.

But that's not all New Super Mario Advance is- just watch the trailer.

Do not PM a staff member to ask for your hack to be approved.

We'll do our jobs when we think it's appropriate, so your time is better spent improving your hack instead of complaining that it isn't on the main forum.

The point of this subforum is quality control. This doesn't mean we'll pass your hack if you're scraping the bare minimum criteria. There is some subjectivity to what is considered good or bad, but if there is a consensus that your hack is good enough to be on the main forum, it will be moved there.

If your hack hasn't been approved, it's for a reason. Work harder on it.

The water sprite is placed underneath the view, and the poison water is placed high above. The water's presence simply nullifies the effects of the poison water.

This is necessary if we want to get anywhere with the Hub World.

What we've established so far:
-The Hub World will be a big castle, like Peach's Castle in SM64.
-You unlock levels by collecting Star Coins, again like SM64.
-There will be a number of rooms to proceed to get through the game, which you get access to via Boss Keys.

So using what we have as a base, I've drawn up some plans for a possible Main Hall and First Room of the Castle.

Main Hall
First Room

As you can see in those images, I've added a few elements to the Hub World.

-Icons that show how many Star Coins you need to gain access.
-Sealed parts of the room that unlock by obtaining Star Coins, giving access to more areas.
-The Doors to the levels are arranged so you have to do some exploration to find them.
-There are outside areas to each room. This was discussed before and I thought it was a good enough idea to incorporate.|
-Other Castles (Boss Castles) are reached by a cannon in the outside area. I did it so it doesn't feel like you're in a Castle in a Castle.
-The A,B,C levels appear in the outside area AFTER beating the Castle of each room.
-In the Main Hall, there is a door to the outside of the Castle. It would not serve a real purpose, but a Hub World wouldn't be a Hub World if you couldn't play around a little.

These are just preliminary ideas, but I think this could work well.

(I came up with an idea that the CR takes place in a new world that is divided into 8 different lands (with the Main Castle in the middle), and Mario has to raid all 8 Castles to get their Key to get to repair the main Castle's highest Tower (gaining access to Bowser). So each room will take up a different land, and Mario progresses through each room with the Star Coins. But we don't have to use that if we can come up with a better story.)

What do you think? Remember that it's not too late to change anything.
