Mini Hack - NSMB Shift Land

Another bunch of 5-minutes levels designed

Last week my niece wanted a new Super Mario levels.
Since I live in Brazil, I took the opportunity that I'm full of that Olympic Games, and decided to make this mini-hack to her, just for distraction, and for me too.


Level 1, 2 and 3

Level "A", 5 and castle

So, here I present to you this Shit Land, I mean, Shift Land, for refined users like you, who want criticize and put the stick (in a good way) on this crap of hack.

Have fun (or not) and do like my niece, who played just for five minutes and gave up.

Well, well, well...

Finally the opportunity came. Here I am and now it's my turn to criticize the levels of this prototype of peach's sister avatar. I was thinking to give to her posts some more time on the refrigerator but, since she admitted a sorry, I decided to reveal and look better what this "NSMB Shift Land" offer to the community. Prepare your butts: Revenge is a dish that should be served cold.

Luluca said in the main post that game was focus on level design. OK. I saw the levels are using the original tilesets. But she advice, in some way. So, There is no new tilesets in this version. I don't know if it's a bad thing but this game really could have some imported tilesets. At least an other background! People are little tired to see the same background and tiles been reused again and again...

I played each level. It's not a bad game. Not at all. I understand the concept. Luluca explored in most of the cases, a vertical area technique. It means the levels works from Botton-to-Up or Up-to-Down way. The level 1-A explores a very smart alternative of auto-scrolling effect. She bent the path line to Y axis and start the level from botton. Something not usual to see in other levels.

But I simply don't get it what's the point about the Tower level: The normal green pipe on the top of the castle leads the player to the Cannon level secret exit. And in turn, the secret warp passage on the left side of the roof leads Mario to fight with Bowser Jr. and pursuant to normal exit. Somebody could explain it to me?

The Cannon level is not boring. A good level with normal path and if you use the cannon, of course, you back to first level. But now, be stunned: the player can catch all star coins on the Cannon Level, but there is no star coins on the level 1-4!!! What a slip...

The level 1-5 is very hard. I dead 5 or 10 times to finish it without fall on the abysm. Are you shure this was made for young people?

When I reached the Final Castle, I need take my hat. The idea of a "Thank You" message on the "pricess area" is not bad, and the Warp Zone backing to first level is a very pretty newbie idea. But the last castle have the time too short. I almost can't finish it! By the way... Maybe my mind is starting fail but, I think I already saw this level design of your Final Castle. If I just remember...

Difficulty: 3/5 - (not for 1-5)
Entertainment: 3/5 - (not bad, not bad)
Quality: 2/5 - (yeah... a bunch of five-minutes pre-maked levels)
Sound: 3/5 - (well, Mario is Mario)
Gameplay: 3/5 (some levels are to small)
Final Media: 3/5 (not bad, not bad... for a newbie!!)

Try the .nmp patch. There's no reason that shouldn't work.
