are they in different palettes? I see a lot of color loss which seemingly shouldn't happen that easily, I think you should make it 4 palette

Then when you import the bitmap click on "Import all bitmaps with all palettes"
Each palette area is 256x122 pixels
Some tilesets slots have 4 palettes but most only have 2
If you wanna convert a 2 palette tileset into a 4 palette tileset then import the "Beach (blue)" tileset over it (import the entire tileset file not just the bitmap)

EDIT: Also make sure that the bitmap doesn't have any translucent pixels when importing it. NSMB doesn't support translucency in its bitmaps (and i bet alot of other DS games don't too)

How do you actually use the template though? Importing a PNG over it resets the tile count. Also i bet it'd look messed up in-game without a matching extended tileset.
