Is this something that can actually occur in the real game, though?

It's similar with the glitch found by hartmann. But throw a hammer instead of being shell this time. Become normal state from a shell while y speed is 0, and then it will work.

I want to test the limit height that glitch could achieve, so create that map which is in the video.

Checked with Skawo and Roadrunner just now. The Windows, MacOS, and Linux versions have all been updated and checked. Each download is now at 1.07. Thanks for describing the issue.

0:00 Pretty sure Mega Mario is supposed to be vulnerable to lava.
0:09 I don't see any glitches there.
0:48 More of a level design issue than a glitch, but still an issue.
1:43 I also don't see any glitches there.
Nice finds though, especially the last one.

The glitch at 0:00 is that Mega Mario doesn't shrink when he's killed by the lava. When he goes into normal lava, he does first, but he stays big for the wave lava. The one at 0:09 is Mini Luigi constantly being pushed out of the pipe because collision, which just kind of looks wonky, but not the biggest issue. Other than that you're right!

for the first one, glitch or not it's a faster and cooler death that way.

as for the other one, that's how it's supposed to be. it pushes you out just fine if you stand right under the pipe and doesn't let you phase through the tile.

So, just for fun, decided to try 100% Newer DS on a Windows XP desktop. I just restored a 2004 HP Pavilion a520n tower with Windows XP Service Pack 3 and 448 MB of Ram. So, I didn't use Desmume since it's software requires a lot of ram to run, even 2 GB is laggy. Anyways, I decided to use no$gba to see how it would run. On the world map, the bottom screen was completely white LOL except for the world map icons. No biggie. Nevertheless, the game didn't lag that much but I did notice a little bit of frame skip to make it run faster. It was very playable on this tower and I beat the game this morning 100% on it. Just a fun thing to see what XP is capable of.

the bottom screen appearing all white (or orange, depending on graphic edits) is a known glitch in no$gba and has nothing to do with winXP.

it's honestly no surprise this emulator works smooth on basically everything.

I think you could even use desmume in XP, or melonDS.

You could, but Desmume's software requires a lot of Ram to run. I've tried and it barely functions. Also, I know the bottom screen is something with no$gba because I've used it on Windows 10 too

I finally continued playing NewerDS where I left off and I beat the Final Boss (eventually). I'm really impressed by the hack. Those last few levels, like W8-A, and the Final Castle and especially the Final Boss were so creative and awesome. You showed us what high levels NSMBDS Hacking can go to. You showed us there's such a lot of stuff possible, which proofs that NSMBDS Hacking doesn't have as much limits as we thought. The Final Boss fight you gave us was so much better than the kind of pathetic short fight the original game gave us.

I mostly just want to say thank you! Thank you for this amazing hack!
