Every File Explorer can actually add, delete and rename files and folders very easily. I suggest people use that tool instead of following this tutorial, it'll save you some time.

because distributing an nds file would be illegal. if it doesn't work, find a different rom. it's as simple as that. xdelta is not a "never worked for me" kind of program.

I should probably mention the existence of  MeroMero's 256 colors title logo asm hack (https://nsmbhd.net/thread/3468-title-logo-with-256-colors/). Not only does it allow having up to 256 colors for your logo, it also allows you to have a logo that covers up to the entire screen. I also feel it might be worth investigating the title logo's four palettes. Seems like it might be an easy way to get more colors without code hacks.

Level design is pretty much the most important part of a romhack. imo, if you're making a romhack, you should at least make your own levels.

yeah, you need to avoid cutoff tiles at all costs. Also avoid putting any tiles above vine blocks, because those tiles get destroyed by the vine and it looks weird.

I need to precise that I didn't draw or rip either of those coin graphics. I found both of them on MFGG, like many of the other graphics I am using.

you can, if you rip the graphics for it. I'm not sure where they are located in the rom, probably somewhere in the ui studio folder.

er, it's not that it could be used for illegal purposes. it really couldn't. just sharing the file itself is illegal because it has nintendo's copyrighted content in it.

those icons are just placeholders. they're the default icons that come with meromero's 256 colors worldmap icons code hack.

there's plenty of good 3DS games though: MK7, M&L Dream Team, LM2, Pokémon X/Y/Sun/Moon/Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon, ALBW, etc.

Nevermind! Turns out I still had it. No idea who drew the original tileset though.

I also had a second tileset like that with more tiles. I'll edit this post if I find it.

you can't export a map. you can only create brand new ones from scratch. there is, however, a recreation of the world 1 map that you can download and edit https://nsmbhd.net/file/dBJiTMTkSPocVEeA/w1.gbmap. to put custom maps into the game, you must use goombatlas's export to code function and compile the custom worldmaps into the game using the custom NSMBe linked on the first post.

it's a name. personally, I don't care about the name as long as the game is good. it's not like names need to be creative, as long as it represents the game decently. also, it's not against the rules to use newer since this hack used it before the rule was made.

for the wiki I'd suggest removing the NSMBU/NSLU pages. The wiki is for NSMBHD and NSMBHD hacks NSMBDS and NSMB2 so I feel like those pages don't belong here.
