Yeah I kinda stopped completely in the last few months because of uni, but in the summer itll be hacking season

Autumn has almost arrived; nope, still no  Dirbaio. But let's get this thread running again: what do you play your DS hacks on? DS, 3DS, other console? Or an emulator? If yes, which and do you like it? I sadly don't have a flashcard (no Dutch webshop, not even bol, which has, like, everything - I got my copies from Pokémon Sun and Super Mario 3D Land from there in 2024, and they do sell Powersave - seems to sell them) and I'm not willing to mod my 3DS so it can run DS games from SD. So I play on DeSmuME, and I don't see why people think it sux. Sure,  Arisotura's MelonDS has wireless support, but in my SM64DS hack VS Mode and the minigames will be nuked anyway, so I don't really need that. Plus, DesmuME has a Tile God Damn MEMORY VIEWER for le future me who will be doing ASM hax! And it can record AVI videos - did you know Android smartphones don't support AVI files?

the thread probably isnt active as most general conversation happens in the discord. since i have a flashcart i usually play hacks or test things on real hardware, but for more iterative testing or anything where it would be inconvenient to move the rom onto my sd card i use no$gba. beyond its wireless compatibility id imagine people like melonds as its faster than desmume and more accurate than both it and no$gba— but its hard to judge something properly without the context of its use case

I really want to have a flashcard. But they're nowhere to be found on any reliable Dutch webshops, but maybe my brother, who is all about piracy and stuff - he downloads everything for free; he even has free Spotify - may know where to find them. It'd make it far easier to test my courses for glitches, also because when it comes to pressing multiple buttons at once, DeSmuME is annoyingly inaccurate. Maybe when I start working on phase 3 of my hack, codehax, I'll have to test on real hardware if I can, to see if any of my codehax crash the game on DS.

Did you know that in his ask thread, MF64 once got asked if he would find it realistic that in the future, Featherland would disappear and people would only discuss NSMB hacking. He didn't find that realistic. Well, how was he wrong! Even though it's de-archived now. But no one seems to have noticed. So I have the last post in four threads there. And, before this board got its name, someone jokingly mentioned the name NSMBCentral for the board, referencing SMWCentral. Guess what our Pisscord is called now: the NSMBCentral Discord!

I still have my old ass DS XL that I've had since I was a kid, and last year I installed TWiLight Menu++ on it, so I basically play rom hacks there, however, I always test rom hacks on emulator before transferring them to my DS, and since I have a potato PC, I use DeSmuME-JIT, I tried MelonDS before but my computer simply can't run it, it's slow af and it constantly crashes for me.
