Yes. Yes you did. The guide tells you to use FBI. You can't use FBI if your console isn't hacked.

That mode in SM64 DS is a minigame though, and implementing it into the hack would require heavy ASM.

That's not inherently true. The player clone sprite can be assigned a player number. So while some asm is needed, I don't think it would need "heavy" ASM.

Wouldn't expect it anytime soon.

I'm having problems with multiplayer my thoughts are your going with the same idea that apply to the new super bros. series my ideas are 1. add the ability for both players to get power ups from a single block. 2. add a continue system like they added in Wii where when you run out of lives you get 5 more. 3. finally my last idea is adding an extra 10 seconds for grabbing the flag pole after the first person.

You can't run it with DLP, Both devices must have NSMB Co-op or it won't work, trust me... I've tried.

My suggestion for the next update (if it's going to happen):

Select to...select World map just like Newer DS
Make the *bottom screen* levels/sections appear on top screen

You can apply both patches to the co-op mod yourself, though I can't guarentee either of them will work.
Worldmap select comes with the NewerDS source, so it's a headache to get working and it's less likely to be compatible with the co-op patch, in the sense that it may be hard to separate from the rest of the Newer DS source and said source is sure to have at least a few incompatibilities with the co-op code. Or at least, I would think so. Can't say I've actually tried to mix the two.

Disabling bottom screen gameplay can either be done through simple level editing or a simple hex edit. The hex patch is extremely unlikely to interfere with the co-op patch, and even in the one in a million chance it does interfere, doing it through level editing will work. Doing it through level editing is probably better anyway, since the hex patch will still disable the reserve item.

I thought the creator was accepting those suggestions after I saw the item box update, and I would like touchscreen being totally optional on this one, but anyway now I get it

I've found a bug, using the cannon softlocks the game, and can you bring back the original player collisions, where you can't walk through each other, and also while you're at it, can you remove death from other players ground pounding/throwing fire balls at Tiny Mario/Luigi?
