Well, I successfully managed 36 music slots, and there is a Bonus theme among them. However, I think that changing the music for this area would seem somewhat interrupting because it uses sprite 155 and is between two Grassland areas. It would be an awkward transition.

I restored the coin count HUD on the top screen. Kudos to  KTRMAmbiance for the tutorial on HUD editing.

Despiting you already have shown them on an earlier screenshot, I'd like to say I really like those mushrooms

I agree. I reckon Nintendo should've gone with classic styled mushrooms in NSMB (red and white, blue and white) instead of like, green and purple. The NSMBU mushrooms fit the game so well.

In response to that deleted post, .xdelta patches are the only way I can patch this hack due to the modified overlays. .nmp patches are out of the question.

Shell items now come from selected Red Koopas now. I did this to make the Shell powerup seem like more of a random reward. When you see a Blue Koopa you know that the item is coming. Now it's a nice surprise! Plus, incentive to smoosh every Red Koopa you see.

This seems like a cool idea. You should do this with goombas dropping mushrooms (and as a typed this, a goomba flew off the screen. And there goes another one.)

With the small difference that this mechanic would require ASM-hacking

Oh, I think I might get what you did then. Did you somehow adjust the values for the red/blue koopas?

I think that he might have just recolored the sprites for the blue Koopas, and then went ahead and retextured the shell model.

So in that case, is it that...
1. All koopas have a chance to drop the shell,
or
2. Certain koopas have been set to always drop the shell

What's so hard to understand?
He retextured the blue koopa and placed them at some points so that you think they are normal red ones but they aren't. So it's choice no. 2.

... oh my god. This hack.. this may be the most professional, Nintendo-like hack I have ever seen. I love the use of NSMBW and NSMBU tilesets, and the acoustic versions of old songs. This, sir, is amazing.

The latter is the closest.

All he needs to 'set' some of the red koopas to always drop the shell is to place a blue koopa instead. And he retextured those.

I would be interested, but if I changed the jyotyu tileset at this point, I would have to rebuild the map of the overworld I'm constructing, which already takes a big amount of my time.

If I were only using the map for plotting purposes I'd have no problem changing jyotyu, but people are going to want a map when this comes out.
