I gave it a quick test, just removing the quotes did the trick for me.
Posted by Thierry And remember that changing the extention can corrupt the file. Wrong. Windows says that because there are many softwares that recognize file types by extension. But changing the file's extension isn't going to magically scramble its contents or otherwise make it truly unusable. Your thread title is amazingly descriptive  Your issue must be related to views. Check that your entrance has the right view ID set. Reviving this, just to give an impression I had.
To be really clean and nice, imo we should start from scratch. Trying to keep compatibility with ABXD has given a codebase that is halfway between old ABXD and new code. Also, some issues I could think of with the new attachment design. Let's say I think out a post, write shit, attach a file, and then decide I don't want to post. Does the uploaded file stay on the server forever? Is it removed after a while?
