One possibility is that in the castle level the mega mushroom never spawns because the game detects there's no room at all for using it.

To really exclude it from the possible items, you'll need some ASM hacking.

Values in RAM like the one you found, are either initialized by code or from ROM. If they come directly from the ROM, you can try to find them in the game's binary. Otherwise, you need to find out the code that writes them.

Also, in a clean ROM, the game's main binary is compressed, so you won't find values by directly searching into the ROM. You should rather open the ROM in NSMBe and extract arm9.bin and search into that.

Other than that, this hack seems to be mostly random recoloring and some potentially good level editing. Can't see quite well though. I wish it was possible to record multiplayer gameplay on an emulator...

I'm not angry at all. Sorry if my post came out rude, but that tileset really looks bad. I'd be ashamed if you used that in NSMB.

You'd probably be better off trying to make one yourself... making something yourself looks original and gives you more satisfaction.

I figured this might be useful for NSMBHD, but who knows, it may have other uses.

It's a PHP script that parses a .nmt file and produces a PNG image of the tilemap graphics with all the possible palettes.
