There's a blatant design flaw there.

If you just give the file to the user directly, they could very well upload it somewhere and redistribute it freely.

Have you even thought about any security or methods to enforce payment?


There's also the issue of patents and all. If you name your thing 'app store', Apple will inevitably try to sue you.

The point of banned users being able to send PMs is if they want to ask the staff for an unban.

Of course, there's abuse. In such cases, just let the staff know. It is possible to block users from sending PMs, but that requires database access, so only dirbaio can do it. I can IP-ban them though, which roughly has the same effect.

No offence but it looks like it was made by a 6 year old. It's huge, complex, and not even visually nice. You should use ground with some decoration, rather than just blocks and more blocks.

Also, you should use a proper music. One that loops. Having the whole level play without music is kinda meh.

I don't think using GC models on the DS would work well, given the DS's low poly count limits.


I'll probably make some quick Acmlmboardy theme for the new board, for the beginning. Once the board is set up, I'll ask for help in retrieving useful technical data from the DSHack wiki backups and posting them on the board.

People who had power at DSHack will not be given power immediately, because I don't know them well, and I'm not the 'I give you power because you're my friend' kind. However they will be given power if I feel that they deserve it. If they're active, helpful, not too harsh, etc...

I'll start working on the editor at the same time. I think I'll make it closed-source. It's an unusual decision for me to take, since I think closed-source has no place in ROM hacking, but it's kinda needed here. I don't want Gericom to copypaste my code and then claim he 'rewrote' his editor. Not giving out code is a better protection than any license, since uh, he doesn't care about licenses, and we don't have the legal power to enforce them anyway.

Regarding C# and decompilation: it'll be obfuscated, too

Perhaps because some themes don't look that good. NSMBHD's layout has some hardcoded black borders in the header.

(why so many thread tags?)

While it's nice to provide so many options, quite a few can be stripped.

* Ensata is illegal to have, it's Nintendo's emulator. Also it doesn't run commercial ROMs. Well actually it doesn't run anything except a few simple demos and supposedly debug ROMs built with the NitroSDK. In short, it's useless.
* DSEmu and Dualis don't run commercial ROMs either, and both are long dead.
* iDeaS also seems to be dead, and its author is an idiot so don't expect too much
* NeonDS is also dead, and lacks sound (among other things)

The only decent choices are DeSmuME and NO$GBA. The former is more accurate, but the latter is good if your PC isn't very powerful.

NO$GBA is also closed-source, completely not portable, and subject to Martin's woes (like how he stops working on it or giving signs of life for 3 years, then suddenly updates it again). Oh and you have to pay to get the last version, but I figure it's not bad, atleast he's not charging insane prices. If only he didn't disappear for 3 years making you unable to buy his shit...

DeSmuME on the other hand, is taking the same 'extreme accuracy' route as bsnes/higan, meaning it will eventually require NASA supercalculators to run at a decent speed. And it's also bloated in crap, half of which is copypasted from other emulators. And over time the code has turned into a giant fucking mess.

My personal choice is still DeSmuME. With the JIT build, you get decent speeds at the price of accuracy (but most games will run fine).


I haven't looked much into DuOS DSEMU, but it looks like a DeSmuME clone or something like that. Also, it's not very active. And the fact it's aiming at running on mobile platforms gives it that commercial stench which repels me away from it. 'Give us your money or expect ads to randomly interrupt you during your gameplay'.
