If you're ok with using N64 graphics, Super Mario 64 is literally the easiest Mario game to rip textures from.

I believe the connected pipe bug also allows you to travel back to a previous area in the World you're located, whereas the classic bug will can only place you in a following area.

I would argue that the second and third tricks are by definition a bug, but the first one seems to be intended by the developers.

A trick that some people like to use is to edit the Arrows from 2-3 into the head of a pipe so when you place it over a non-3D tile you'll still go behind it. At least that's what I've gathered from what I've seen in other hacks.

Any more snarky comments on this thread will be deleted.  Arceus is well aware of the "problems" people have addressed, and it's his choice what to do with these complaints. It's not anybody's right to flame or pester him, so SHOW HIM SOME DAMNED RESPECT, and quit whining about your first-world problems.

How about you produce a better hack and we'll see how you do? I thought so.

It looks like it's come a long way since what we saw at E3.

-Vertical Scrolling.
-Ability to adjust level length.
-Customizable Music.
-Large Variety of different themes. (Overworld, Castle, Underwater, Underground, etc.)
-4 Different Art Styles.
-Lots of new enemies.
-Lots of new functions for objects and enemies.
-Solid-on-top Platforms.
-More Powerups.
-Indication that each art style has its own unique functions. (ie. The SMB3 level ending)

What it needs to be a sale from me:
-Slopes.
-More manipulable terrain.
-Graphics Editor.
-The ability to produce full length games that you can share online.
-Support for SMB2 features.
Ability to place two Mario's in a stage, or Double Cherry powerup.

As with all of Nintendo's presentations, I don't go into it with any hype whatsoever.

If you want Nintendo to reveal something huge in a Nintendo Direct like a new 3D Mario that isn't a NSMB game in 3D, a legit HD remake of Mario 64 or a Galaxy 3, any indication of the intent to celebrate Super Mario Bros.'s 30th Anniversary with something like a new Mario All-Stars game with classic 3D Mario games, or the even the promise of a "real" 3D Mario game before the Wii U's number's up, but that's just not going to happen.

So I watch every Nintendo Direct with the assumption that absolutely nothing new is going to be unveiled.

What I think is a safe bet is this:

-New 3DS international release date.
-Mewtwo trailer for Smash 4.
-That new Puzzle and Dragons game with a Mario theme.
-Majora's Mask 3D info.
-Mario Maker info.

I'm very late to the party here, but I recently downloaded and played this hack on my flash cart and I thought I'd give some feedback. Here are my honest thoughts:



Overall, it was a pretty good hack. Not perfect, but still very enjoyable and great for those who want a challenge.

Very good points and I thank you for raising them. I've been working on many of the flaws you pointed out- they will be improved upon in future hacks.

What  Arisotura said. I once broke to demand and uploaded a pre-patched ROM of Clone Tag Team, and I was lucky enough to be given the chance to just delete the file with no repercussions. Piracy ain't a joke.

I took this screenshot just this morning, and moved my next image to next week. I managed to import Honeycombs into the Tree tileset with minimal color loss. I think it looks very nice. Though, imagine my surprise when I played Newer Super Mario Bros. Wii for the first time two days ago to see the exact same thing done two years earlier! I guess I wasn't as original as I thought...

I'm not typically one to release demos for my hacks. If I were to release another one, I'm afraid it would be just as limited as the first demo. I don't want to spoil the experience of playing a full game by letting people play an unfinished version years in advance.

That's why I host Pic of the Week. So people get updates without being spoiled.

Okay, so good news. I've cleaned up the sound_data folder, so not only will I be able to keep all 36 tracks, but the World Map sound effects have been restored, in addition to any other sound effect errors in-game.

The bad news- it cost me a Friday night.

If I were making a regular-sized New Super Mario Bros. hack, it'd be just over half way done. Alas, that is not the case with Super Mario: Endless Earth. The overworld is now 37% complete, and I've only done the tiniest things in preparation for the non-overworld areas which will also have a considerable amount of content.

Did I ever mention that Fortresses will have multiple paths?

I am the whore of the resource forum. I needed a way of rejuvenating the underground and underwater areas, so I decided to make an water/cave area to mix it up. I manually edited the palette of the Volcano backgrounds to preserve its quality.
