I changed the karma weights a bit. Now the whole thing is as follows:

Karma starts at 0 (Not 100 as before).

+1: +10
new thread: +2
new post: +1
user vote: +/-5 (normal user), 10 (mod), 15 (admin)
Deleted post: -15
Thread you started is trashed: -20
Thread you started is deleted: -30

So karmas are... less negative now.

I've also clarified the "top +1ers" thing. It also shows the people you've +1'd the most.
Also displaynames are gone due to stupid and useless abuse.

Either that or beg everybody for them

Anyways, this is actually significant for people to improve if they're unhappy with their current karma.

its using your internal username, the one stored on the DB.

You can always request a nickname change to an admin if you want to change your nick permanently.

The purpose of display names was that, so people could change their nicks themselves. But it ended up being LOLDERP RANDOM NICKNAMES WHO IS WHO. So, removed.

We staff will delete derp and useless posts. meaning the user will get a -14 karma :>

Yep... and I did, however, because of "the way" being CSS abuse, I'm not going to do it. Still, I don't see anything wrong here, I think that I sorta abused it too (in fact, other "abusers" usually stayed on one display name for a long time, not case for me).

Not that display names abuse was a big problem IMO. You could easily recognize people by layouts and minipic, and hovering over username showed real username. And really, the problem was worse on SMW Central, because SMW Central didn't have any way of determining who is the person (there is no one canonical username, unlike ABXD).

In fact, I believe username changes were and are a bigger problem on SMWC (where you could change username once a year), than here (where you could always change your username), mostly because of the fact that SMWC doesn't have canonical usernames. There is no way of determining other than reading this thread (which doesn't even include all name changes - I once requested name change from "Glitch.Mr" to "GlitchMr", and it isn't on this list), or looking into user's bio (if that person mentioned the name change, not everybody does, of course).

By the way, I've a feeling that a bonus for new post is too big. Perhaps 1 karma point for 5 posts, or something.
