Now you may ask why am I making this, well I think the forum should have one.

And before you say it, yes I know IRC is a thing, but Discord is just better IMO because of notifications.
(And Nina Bot could be created but atm IDK how)

The last thing, please don't nuke this just because it's a Discord server.
(I think they were nuked because just random new people said hey here's a Discord, I've been around a while and have high karma so *shrug*)

Although there is a bot in a discord I'm in (Kafuka, I think?) which acts as a bridge between IRC and Discord (posting IRC messages to Discord and vice versa) which allows you to communicate between platforms, which can make IRC and Discord cross compatible. Just putting this out there.

No thank you. I know how shitty moderating a Discord server is.
Also IMO Discord has a bad impact on the board itself. People will start sharing stuff on the Discord only which leads into the death of the board. I know what I am speaking of. I saw NSMB2hax die because of that.

If you want notifications get yourself an irc bouncer or that IRCloud thing.

Edit: I am tempted to nuke this because you think high Karma legitimates anything. The past has shown that Karma doesn't represent anything and is just a source of trouble.

Karma only represents your past, which does not take in account present and future. So to say that your karma is high and thus have more authority is bull shit. Just because you won over and over on a game doesn't mean you will win again and again, AKA the fallacy of the maturity of chances. The same goes in reality, you may say many great things in a row, but it doesn't mean you won't say or do something stupid next time. And this time was that time. Additionally, people tend to remember the times you fucked up, and you should be appreciative of when they forgive you. Cause sometimes you just get fucked over, and ain't nobody gonna give a shit about you.

Also I don't see any problem with a discord for yourself and some friends to use. The problem is how you want to include the entire forum page on it. It is hard enough to control people on one site to not cause flame wars, imagen two times the work. In general, I recommend the discord channel, but only to exclusive people that you know won't be a dick.

I think it goes both ways. You can be a lot less than some random guy at points too. So I'm saying that you shouldn't brag about your past, because the past shouldn't make who you are. It's what you do to challenge the future to be a better human being. Just because I do not know someone doesn't make them better, it simply makes me less patient to deal with their shit.

oh, I wasn't trying to brag. I brought that up because all the other Discords that have been nuked, it's someone without a rank/low karma, whereas I have 511posts/778 karma as of this post. So to better word it, I was trying to say I'm "active" on the board.

What's the point of having Discord, when there's an IRC Chat and the forum there?

Discords are all for chats and discussions. We discuss about the projects at their dedicated threads, and member-to-member chats are done in profile comments, PMs and in the IRC.

Looking at those, having a Discord would be pointless. Just saying.

And as said a ton of times before, higher karma and being active doesn't mean you can do anything.

So in other words, Staple and RicBent don't like Discord so NSMBHD will stick to IRC (that 1988 thing which is limited to ASCII characters and is complicated as hell)
