As  owthe.lat said, congratulations on 25% completion of the main overworld  MarioFanatic64! It is just me, or is the development going faster than expected? Either way, it looks like you have some great ideas for level design. Keep up the good work, in any case!

Just one wrong move and it's a long drop for Mario... But I'm sure there's something worthwhile on the other side... right?

I've been working on some game aesthetics, finding a way to re-purpose the World Maps and I'm making further changes to the Bottom Screen, starting with the re-texturing of the Bottom Screen Backgrounds. Since you need Star Coins (Power Stars) to unlock them, I'm going to need to boost the total Power Star count from 24 to a whopping 240 so the Secret Background can be unlocked. But since there are only eight levels (missions) in the hack, I've got to find a way to pick up more than three Star Coins (Power Stars) at a time in a single level.

I've found out simply changing the numerical value of the coins to 03 or higher won't work. I was hoping it would cause some kind of overflow that would let you collect coins that are supposed to be obtained in the future levels but alas, no.

I'm also trying to replace the Top Screen in the Title Screen with a static image. That's on the to-do-list.

I believe that it's quite possible the hack may be finished sometime in 2017. After the overworld is complete, production is likely to speed up.

You already said that. I feel like you're hurried with this. I think you should relax a li'l bit and do things in the time that they have to be done. If you release this in 2017 it's OK, if not, it's OK too. It's very important that you enjoy what you're doing instead of a headache for hurrying up to design the hack. But this is only what I think it's happening.
Back on topic, this looks very good. You're doing your best! This will come powerful. I wish I could help you with it. How much overall percentage?

I could not…

Over the last few days, I've had a bit of a scare which made me very concerned for the future of the project.

While I can say for now that I am certain that I will be able to produce the large open world I always envisioned, I am finding that it is not as easy as I thought it would be. I don't think I could possibly make the world any bigger than it currently is planned to be without major sacrifices.

I've run into strange bugs and glitches that I've never seen or heard of before in my six years of NSMB hacking, some things that I really have no explanation for.

From Fireballs dissapearing past a certain point of a level, random tiles showing up in empty spaces, and even entire segments from other areas appearing over the top of the current level. The list goes on and it's crazy!

If you're ever interested in making an open world project in NSMB -don't. Just don't.

That's not to say that I regret the project. My expectations are higher than they've ever been.

I'm just eager to eventually go back to something that's more of what 2D Mario games are intended for, and that's why I'll be starting a new side-project exclusively for Super Mario Maker when it launches in two weeks.

Well, you can ask us all for help with those bugs or the hack. Remember you're part of a NSMB hacking community, and if you have concerns, you can count on us. Don't get heartache for trying to solve them so badly, a li'l help won't come bad. Even if those bugs look like they have no solution, ask us for help, because that's why we are a community; don't ever think we won't care.
Now, relax and put things apart. You're not forced to do this. Just don't get stressed, OK? Take breaks every now and then, make up your mind and work patiently. Even if the hack comes out in 2020. The most important thing is that you made it with all your effort and capacity. This ain't your life. You have to do other things beside this. Doing Super Mario Maker stuff may be very fun for you, so do it and stop NSMB hacking for a while when it comes out.

Might be a coincidence, but I know all those. It doesn't only concern open-world hacks.

Do these bugs also occure when you enter the areas from the worldmap and not from another one?

Also, have you tried removing the ASM-hacks?

I appreciate the concern for my own well-being, but I assure you all that I'm just fine. The hack is not in any trouble, and that makes me happy. I want to see this thing completed just as much as anybody else would. I'm very excited about my future plans for this hack, but I just have to get the overworld done before I can move on to the cool stuff.

I'm sure that these side effects are due to a combination of putting multiple views in each area and use of the area overflow exploit. It's nothing to worry about, as I've been able to fix all of these issues. Most of the time, all I have to do is move the view. I wouldn't worry about any of these problems being a significant issue, I've just never had to deal with them before.

Considering the Fire Bro has no space to jump but Mario has plenty, you can predic Mario will avoid the fireballs by jumping and throw some the Fire Bro can't avoid.

Well, I haven't tested what that screenshot shows, but I don't know if the Hammer Bro. would get stuck or bugged in the wall while jumping or just go through it; because the Hammer Bros. do jump when there are blocks above them to stand on.

That's a similar problem that I already had with views (in the Level bug thread and you offered help) and this helped me a lot!

OK my joke aside, down to business; regarding what you said about wild glitches, I must say that sounds insane! I'm afraid I must ask, how do you plan on combating these game-breaking glitches? And also, are any of these glitches present the demo you released back in April?

So far, I have managed to fix all of these glitches, and there aren't any known issues in the demo.

This area reminds me of Super Mario Bros. 3, because of the colored blocks and the general aesthetic of the Grassy Plains tileset. As you can see, this little floating island is more of an obstacle that you have to jump down into in order to grab the other rope and keep climbing- whichever way you choose to go. Be mindful of that Piranha Plant!

If this didn't grab your attention, maybe this will:

06 - Peaceful Days.mp3

This is the music that I intended to use as the main overworld theme. Though, I'll be able to do one better than that. I'm sure that I'll be able to give each world theme its own unique BGM! So for now, I'll just use this one as the standard Forest music.

Maybe use it for the credits?

I've been getting that NSMB feel from the trailers and screenshots. If that's truly not what you're going for, I think you may be hacking the wrong game.
