Maybe I'm misunderstanding you but I said there are a few things in this hack that bother me today not that the hacks sucks because that isn't even true in the slightest.

just gonna pitch in here- I dunno if he accidentally revealed his true thoughts about the hack while trying to be comforting, but either way he's allowed to have his opinion. don't like it, deal with it.

also, there's no issue with difficulty in earlier worlds, so long as the difficulty curve is indeed present. otherwise, it's just put together haphazardly.

In the last weeks I started working on the newest and also final version of this hack. Version 3.0, I want to end this hack with the best possible version I am able to create.
Therefore I'm going to work on several things that have to be improved in my opinion like some worldmap stuff and many level design choices.

What's going to happen:
- every level is getting some treatment, some only minor tweaks others major overhauls
- I'm going to replace my personally most disliked levels e.g. 4-A (Screenshot)
- new graphics where needed (World 1 map feels pretty empty, Candy Country tileset doesn't fit the typically smooth style of the other tilesets)

This already lead to a point where world 4, my personally least favorite already feels a ton better than before with much fairer levels, better graphics and just a friendlier design in general (it feels more like an actual fourth world now).

I recently started with world 5 so things still gonna take some time but I look forward to release it soon.

The one thing I'd change is the World 4 Ghost house, the part where you have to push a timed switch and race back to the other one. It took me 2 hours to beat that. I've gotten past the part only to die later, making me do it again. That level was just a nightmare for me

There are a few "softlocks" I've found while playing through this hack (while most aren't full softlocks, they do require the player to restart the level or die).
- In World 2-3, any section requiring the player to hit a Bob-omb from below using Brick Blocks can be softlocked because once the Brick Blocks are hit, you cannot explode the Bob-omb.
- Not really a softlock - but a complaint. Why are you forced to be small for World 4-Castle?
- World 5-Tower's Bowser Jr. bossfight can easily break with Bowser Jr. falling off the square platform into the pit below.
- You can get softlocked from World 5-Ghost House's normal exit if you collect the coins needed to reach the door before activating the P-Switch. I did this unknowingly on my first run and had to kill myself to get the coins back.

Point 1: I improved that already, you can still get softlocked now but only if you act really, really stupid.

In World 4-Castle, there is a fence that is submerged in the lava. It's one block high from the lava, so only small and mini Mario can climb onto it. There is no way to skip it, so you're forced to take damage.

why don't you make a totally updated version with ASM hack of Newer ds and new tilesets?
for example you could update the backgrounds and make them as nsmb2 or the 256 color icons ...

Exactly what I'm thinking.
Even though Newer graphics might be the highest quality and best looking ones, I rather prefer using my own textures/rips everywhere I'm able to do it.
I will use a few graphics though to replace some textures which I'm not able to create myself (some worldmap stuff).

Also I want to keep the feeling of the hack, replacing everything would ruin that. V3.0 is just supposed to optimize levels and existing graphics.

Whether you haven't played Super Mario Bros. - The New Worlds yet or you want to replay it someday, now is the time.

Version 3.0 is now available for download!

I can't list everything in detail regarding the levels that would be way too much. Some have minor changes while others got huge overhauls.
