I guess idk what I'm doing wrong but I can never *successfully* make an XDelta patch. It always gives me the checksum id mismatch thing, but I use a rom I downloaded legally backed up to make the patch. I use XDelta GUI version if that changes anything because I hate using the command prompt version of anything, so help would be appretiated.

Thanks! ~Ndymario

Screenshots and/or Terminal logs are helpful here, we can't help you if the most precise detail goes like "It doesn't work".
Please don't assume we can read your mind...

Try another ROM, the psyfer ROM I use usually works.

He's trying to create a patch, not to apply one.

Oh, my bad. Still, it's possible the ROM he used for hacking and the ROM he's using as a source file are different.

I mean both in a way. When I make an xdelta, it's "fine". When i patch it to my *original* rom it's fine. But when other people try to use it, it never works. (take MvL Fun 1.1 for example)

You're using a dump of the ROM that is not commonly used. Often the person who dumps ROMs will 'sign' it, which causes issues if xdelta notices there's a difference between the source file and the patch file.

I use "New Super Mario Bros. (U)(Psyfer).nds" and it works perfectly.

I just tried it out for myself, and I can verify that ROM works.
I used the command line tool called "xdelta3" (it's called like this in the software repositories, it could have a different name on Windows, but this one was made by Joshua MacDonald) in this case (for the first time, by the way), and I really don't see why you don't want to give it a try...

As a bonus, "xdelta3" can also create new XDelta patches:
[administrator@LinBookPro デスクトップ]$ xdelta3 --help Xdelta version 3.0.11, Copyright (C) 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 Joshua MacDonald Xdelta comes with ABSOLUTELY NO WARRANTY. This is free software, and you are welcome to redistribute it under certain conditions; see "COPYING" for details. usage: xdelta3 [command/options] [input [output]] make patch: xdelta3.exe -e -s old_file new_file delta_file apply patch: xdelta3.exe -d -s old_file delta_file decoded_new_file

Though I do wonder why the author forgot to remove the ".exe" part while porting it to Linux.
