Hello! I am making this thread to have a place anyone can post MvL hacks without making a new thread each time, so Let's A Go!

The game is very glitchy when running this boss and tends to desync, once the boss key tries to spawn, the game freezes, so I will upload videos of the rest of the BOSSES and see what will happen, so stay tuned. EDIT 1 (9/22/16) ---------------- Did some testing I can confirm that Lakithunder, Montytank, and Bowser (from 1-1), all crash the game in their boss rooms and respectful tile sets/backgrounds, will try to put them in mega gommba's boss room as mega goomba works. Also regarding the Mega Goomba, it doesn't matter who kills the boss on Luigi's screen it says "Luigi Loses", but nothing on Mario's (Due to game freeze(?) - see edit 2 EDIT 2 (9/25/16) ---------------- Skawo was kind enough to answer my request, and he made "No Boss Key" asm hack. Due to this you can now beat the boss without it crashing. But, the catch here is that you can't "officially" beat the boss since there is no key to grab. Also no matter who gets the last hit on luig's screen it says luigi loses, nothing ever shows up on Mario's. Using this ASM hack, you can spawn a clone in MvL! If you change nybble 11, it changes the clone to Mario(0) or Luigi (1) If you change nybble 12, it changes which player controls the clone Player 1 (0) or Player 2 (1) Here's a vid! Bowser in MvL! I now know the dark secret behind this place. Think about the name for a second. The NSMB Hacking Domain.
Still can't figure it out? This place promotes Hacking Domains!!! A domain (for those who don't know) is the IP address of a website. For example, www.google.com is the IP address 8.8.8.8. So this means that NSMB is just a cover-up for the TRUE purpose of this website, and that is to HACK WEBSITES!!! This would also explain Dirbaio's absence on the board because he is secretly hacking websites so he doesn't have time to "browse the forums". The Rabbit hole only gets deeper, as I think StapleButter is in on it as well. Seeing as he runs Kuribo64, he would most likely partner with Dirbiao for this hacking project But when people wanted to swap to RH Cafe, Dirbaio realized that his plans will be found out, so he "just so happened" to come back for that crucial moment. This also means that ALL of the admin and mods are apart of this as well. That being said, this would explain the "admin-only" thread.  I've been thinking about this project for some time now. Now I've decided to make it a thing. This will be (as far as I'm aware of) the largest Mario VS Luigi hack that has been made! In order for this to become a reality...we need YOUR help! What we need is: Level Designers- Music Composers- --- Graphics designers- ASM Hackers- --- Beta Testers- If you would like to help out, say so in this thread, PM me, or join the MvL Discord! FAQ ---- How will this work? This will sorta be like the community remix, where anyone who wants to contribute can. We know what happened to the CR...how will this be different? Hello! It's a me Ndymario. This thread will talk about how to edit, what works/doesn't, and how to play custom levels. Without further a-do, Lets a go!
I The basics How do I make/edit the levels? This is really simple, first off (if you don't have it already), you'll need to grab a copy of the NSMBe. I recommend the latest version as it has all the features that will be talked about in this tutorial. (Here's the link http://nsmbhd.net/download/) Next, you will need to obtain a US rom of NSMB. I'm not allowed to tell you where to find one, but a quick Google search should do the trick Now once you have acquired a rom if it is a ".7z" file, continue reading. If it's a ".nds" file skip to the next part If the end of the file name is ".7z", you will need to download 7zip, and extract the rom. If you need an explanation as to how to do that, just do a quick Google search and you'll find a tutorial, I promise you. II Making the levels Now here is where the fun part comes into play, you get to make your own levels! Ok, first open your ROM with NSMBe5 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- IMPORTANT IF YOU PLAN TO USE DS DOWNLOAD PLAY FOLLOW THESE STEPS FIRST 1) ON the top bar click "Tools/Options" 2) Check the box beside "DLP FRIENDLY" 3) Return to "Level Listing" ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Now open the tab Mario vs Luigi Now to begin double click on "SMB 1-1" You should now have a screen like this *Insert Screenshot Now for a beginner, here are some things to keep in mind 1) Always keep the same amount of "Big Stars", this will save you a crash later 2) Only use enemies that are in the level already*, this will save you a crash *we will talk more abt this later 3) Don't change the size of the level (vertically and horizontally) Posted by MarioKart7z I think changing the size of the level is fine as long as the amount of screens (16x16 squares) in length is a multiple of 2 And you really don't have to worry about it at all if you don't plan on using wrap-around 4) Most important of all, Have fun, but don't go overboard with level design III Playing the Levels Now I will cover both Multi Cart And Download Play Multi Cart - The easiest way to do this. First off you will need 2 Flash cards to use the ROMS you just edited. Important-You have to put the exact same rom file on each flash card. After that just start MvL normally Download Play - Harder Way - See the problem with download play is that if the Signature check fails the game won't download, so that's why you had to follow the important step earlier. *Assuming you have read the beginners guide to MvL hacking* So you've mastered MvL hacking, and want to do more with it, well today, I will talk about more of the advanced stuff, so Let's a go! What else can I do, the game is so limited! I'm glad you asked, well there is this thing called ASM hacking. What is it you ask, well to keep things simple, you can mod the code of the game (more on that here https://nsmbhd.net/forum/8-asm-hacking/) If you don't want to make any mods, that's ok, I'll show you some ASM hacks that have to do with MvL and how to use them The first one on our list is the "No Sprite Set Limitation" hack. To keep things simple, This allows you to use any sprite set! But the catch here is that you can no longer use Battle Stars but more on that later (link https://nsmbhd.net/thread/1095-no-more-sprite-set-limitation-in-mvsl/) Next up on our list is "1-1 in MvL". This allows you to put 1-1 in MvL! This requires you to have the no sprite set mod, also you have to remove some sprites (see post) (Link http://nsmbhd.net/thread/1299-coop-experiment-getting-1-1-into-multiplayer/) Using these 2 hacks together you can make race levels! Which means you race to the Goal Pole instead of getting stars. Now I'm not going into how to use/import asm hack, but just look around the ASM hacking section and you will find ample tutorials NOTE ASM HACKED MVL STAGES ONLY WORK WITH MULTI-CART!!! I have been trying to get this to work, but it won't. I opened 2 instances of DeSuME (wifi compatible - look at uploader under tools and you will see it) on one instance I had NSMB-->MvL-->Another Owner-->Mario, and the other instance I had NSMB-->MvL-->Another Owner-->Luigi. The instance with Luigi said Ndyluigi Mario has appeared, I got excited, I press Yes...then the emulator SLOWED DOWN, I was thinking it might work, but it finally said Ndyluigi left (aka connection failed). I have a good pc but I want other people to try this so we may have MvL Emulated!
NOTES FOR SMART PEOPLE: I was looking around in memory viewer and 02FFFFC0 (around there) had the description for if you used DS Download play, so maybe we can do something with that EDIT:02FFFF90 has to continuous values while "looking" for a match EDIT2:02FFFC30, another counter EDIT3: *ARM7* starting at 04000400 crazy counters Good Luck! ~~Ndymario _________________________ Here's my MvL Hacking thread Consider joining the NSMB DS Hacking Discord Server! #HakingNoMore |
