Well, I've already used up every tileset slot so I'm afraid I won't be able to use those tiles.

The chances that I will be making another sequel is very very low. I have Hack #4 and #5 to work on.

As for progress, the no-music glitch in the Final Boss Battle corrected itself somehow. Don't ask me.

If I've done my math correctly, there are currently 35 Clone Levels in CTT2.
Depending on my own choices there could be up to 7 more levels, but probably not.

Also, an update on the Boss music.

It's mostly still not working, BUT I have discovered something curious about the Final Boss music.

It turns out that for some reason, the Final Boss SFX and music do not play unless you die and respawn at the midway point. But strangely enough, dying at the midway point will block out most other SFX and music until you get to the Boss Room.

So my solution is to have the midway point leading into the small room before last. While that room is entirely possible to get through the very first time, it does have a high difficulty curve. So hopefully by the time you get into the Boss room you will have died and respawned at the midway point.

It's the best I can do, at least until I release the hack and maybe someone else would be generous enough to have a look at the ROM.

Wait, what are the levels?

Also, glad you don't have too much work on your plate for the hack! If there's only 11 levels, it could be done in about a week or a month...right?

Even if I manage to get 36 it's still twice the amount of Clone levels in the original.

It's hard enough with 3, trust me

The last 5 levels are 'test' levels, designed to put players to the test.

For the first one you are forced to move quickly and make split second decisions.
For the second one you have to get through the level with three Mario's.
For the third one you and your clone have to play through the entire level perfectly synchronized.
For the fourth one you have to leap across large pits filled with lava, again moving as quickly as possible.
And the fifth one is the Final Castle which is just generally difficult.

This may be far too short when it comes to testing, but may I suggest a release date range of July 11-13? SMWC is holding C3 during this time, and showing off a new full hack is sure to get some attention for the forum.

Perhaps. I was planning to have a Nintendo Direct-esque presentation for C3 where I'd unveil a release date for Clone Tag Team 2, as well as footage from Hack #4 and Hack #5, but I decided it would be best if I gave myself some time off instead of jumping back into a new hack straight away. After all, I've been working on this for two years.

But Clone Tag Team 2 will be undergoing rigorous testing, so I probably won't make that date.
If I reserve time, I can have 5 hours a day for playtesting, and I want the testing phase to last at least two weeks.

It's funny though, because two years ago on July 12 precisely I released the original Clone Tag Team.
