I'm making my first hack of NSMB, and I wanna know how to make my own custom tilesets. Could someone help me?

First, you need a tool like Photoshop or Paint (you can download Photoshop for free, google it).
Second, every bitmap must be 256x112 (you can use max 4 bitmaps, one per palette). You can download a tileset and extract it from the game (click on 'extract all bitmaps').
Third, you can't fill every slot of a palette with different blocks because every the palettes use the same slots. When you finished the graphical part, you have to do the map16 (if a block is solid, semisolid ect.) and make the object. Hope i helped you!

okay no. paint will absolutely not work because it doesn't support any kind of transparency. photoshop can be cracked but I don't see why you'd do that when there're good free alternatives like paint.net and gimp.

I use paint. You can erase the background white part to transparency in the tileset editor if I remember right.

Sorry, i meant paint.net not paint. Also, i said cracked Photoshop it's an option, not a need.
