Skylander has other interests now, but if you can find someone from the NSMB hacking scene with enough ASM knowledge, you could ask them. Or learn ASM yourself. But really, when it comes to code, the NSMBDS hacking scene isn't all that advanced yet. Which is because not many NSMB hackers are interested in writing custom code for the game.


This is not true, the NSMBDS code hacking scene is more advanced than ever with NCPatcher and the new code template and you can basically do anything you want if you have enough coding skills and patience.

But yeah, like you said, Skylander is no longer working on this and he has basically abandoned NSMB hacking, so we can't expect any more updates from this hack

ASM is a programming language the DS uses; it's one level easier than raw machine language. It and C++ are the programming languages code hacks for DS games are written in.

I meant, we don't see really advanced stuff that often, compared to SMW or even SM64DS. Most hacks still use the default bosses for example, and we've not seen custom power-ups very often either. For SMW there's stuff like the custom noob boss and the power-ups pack; SM64DS has the platform editor and More Objects Mod. Plus, SM64DS hackers have already found a way around object banks (Dynamic Libraries), NSMB hackers haven't yet (AFAIK), and I think that's because the majority of NSMB hackers isn't interested in code hacking, which is OK.

What kind of stuff do I have to think of, then? The spinjump? Dynamic Libraries (would be cool if we could implement DLs in NSMB by just clicking a button in NSMBe. Would be easier than in SM64DSe since there there are two patches - the DLs one and one that enables NSMBe5 patching which need to be applied in a certain order for it to work on original hardware. NSMBe would definitely not need to have NSMBe5 patching enabled, since NSMBe was made for NSMB )? Propeller Mushroom, Super Leaf? Maybe even Yoshi or W9? (I mean, even NES could handle Yoshi, which Nintendo thought was impossible.) Are there hacks out there that are even more code-intensive than NewerDS? Just curious. I always admire code hackers.
