Anyways, sorry for the long delayed reply, I haven’t hardly been into NSMB hacking since I released this (need to update the hack again, I found another issue with it.)

I'm going to give a little feedback about something that really bugged me. Why are the colors of the world map so weird for the grass in W1? I see that you used the nsmbu textures, but wouldn't it make more sense to recolor the ground, so it matches the wall and doesn't look weird?

Hey there, so I've been working on a TAS for this hack, and looking into what causes the crash in 8-BC so that I can actually have it play through to the end. Anyways, I discovered that the warp for the pipe cannon has the disable sound option checked, and unchecking it fixes the problem, which seems to be the way you fixed the warp in the world 7 ghost house. Just putting this here so if you ever get to updating the hack you can fix that too.

Sorry y’all. I still check on this once in a while and I’m glad to see someone has exactly nailed the issue with the warp problem in Bowsers Castle. I’m pretty busy but if I get time soon, I’ll release 1.10.

Hello, your hack is great, even with the OG Backgrounds, it still goes way past amazing.






Also, while playing I found a bug, when you step on a Shy Guy, his palette goes all blue.

I am aware about that, I never applied the ASM hack for that to work properly. The model just replaces the splumpkins

Just to let ya'll know, I got off my lazy butt and created V 1.10. I re-enabled the sound in the final castle warp so HOPEFULLY the crashing toward the end is fixed. I fixed the background in 8-7 as well. I tried to speedrun the game yesterday and noticed that some of the levels were a tad... difficult. I went ahead and tweaked levels 5-3, 5-B, 8-1, 8-3, 8-6 and 8-8 to make them a tad easier to complete as well.

Anyways, enjoy!

Hi Skylander,

Although I am not even done with World 2 yet, I just wanted to say I am really enjoying this hack! Maybe the best one I have ever played besides Newer Super Mario Bros DS!

So you guys are saying it is possible to grab the third star coin in 2-5 (rope bug) as micro Mario? Because micro Mario is able to hold on to this rope? Or because he can jump higher?

Would be great to see this hack in a final or definitive state, as it simply is very good.

Edit: I just tried as micro Mario but nothing changes! I can't hold on to the rope and there is no other way either to hit the switch.

Skylander has other interests now, but if you can find someone from the NSMB hacking scene with enough ASM knowledge, you could ask them. Or learn ASM yourself. But really, when it comes to code, the NSMBDS hacking scene isn't all that advanced yet. Which is because not many NSMB hackers are interested in writing custom code for the game.
