Hey all! Hope you guys are having a good Christmas (if you celebrate). There was a good amount of demand, so it's time to do another long overdue contest.


Participants have until 11:59 PM Central Standard Time on February 14th to create a custom New Super Mario Bros. level that shows off your best level design skills and fits the level theme below.

The theme of this contest is frozen/icy castle. Your level submission can be whatever you wish as long as it fits the theme. There are no restrictions to graphics or other custom stuff; go wild if you wish.

Here are the rules of the contest:

1. You may only submit one entry.
2. You may work with one partner if you choose.
3. Your entry must edit level 1-1, which has the maximum 3 areas.
4. Your level must include a midway point.
5. Your level must include three properly working star coins.
6. Your level must fit the theme.
7. Your level should be free of any replicate-able game-breaking glitches or crashes.

Each level will be rated out of 100, taking into consideration the following:

Level Design: How well does your level play? Is it fun, creative, and interesting, or does the player just want it to end?
Functionality: Are there any bugs or glitches that hinder or annoy the player.
Appeal: Does your level look good? Is it barren, or well decorated? You don't have to use custom tilesets to give your level appeal.
Adherence to Theme: How well does your level fit the theme? There are a wide variety of ways to apply the icy theme to your submission.

1st place: $20 Amazon or Steam gift card

(other prizes may be added depending on the number of submissions)

Final submissions 11:59 PM Central Standard Time on January 31st. There will be no extensions given.

Here's my entry:

Frozen Chasm

Just some things I want to point out to prevent misconceptions based on past contests:
-The springboard sprite will respawn in case one loses the spring. Only the springboard from a ? block will disappear forever.
-An enemy won't count as defeated if it goes offscreen/falls into a pit.
-I used on purpose the MvsL music, so it's not like "I forgot" to set it. If it was song slot 00, that one just plays the song and there's no sound effects (like the worldmap ones)
