Same here. Maybe it wasn't implemented yet.


A ASM hack removing it would be sort of useless tough. And unless we really remove it, removing it's graphics will only confuse the player.

or maybe it was just removed for the E3, since in the demo when the player dies, the game continue in a different level.
same thing for the levels' label (fortress, desert,field,sea), i think they were never supposed to be in the final version

btw, here's the beta hud numbers font (i made the 1,the 7 and the 8 cause there's no screenshot where they appear), i doubt it's possible to include it but it's maybe useful

Indeed. The lack of lives and very basic level names seems to be a "demo thing", not a "prototype thing".

It would still be nice to have some kind of level name display on the progress path- if that can ever be pulled off. The way it is in the beta, we could always just name each level based on the kind of environment that they're set in.

For example: Field, Fortress, Desert, Sea, Beach, Cave, Castle, Sky, Forest, Frost, Mountain, Cloud, Molten, Badland, etc.
New Super Mario Bros.: Clone Tag Team 1+2 / New Super Mario Advance + Take 2 / Super Mario: Endless Earth

'making'? You don't need to bother doing that, ripping and editing if needed is the closest and fastest way to get it done right.

EDIT: And I guess it's been done already. I will give a quick look to make sure.

We've done 3 of the 4 levels in the E3 demo, the field level, the desert level and the fortress level.
There's no footage of the sea level though.
