Totally yes to airships...

Also maybe the first half of world 1 is just grass land then honey starts appearing past the castle. ( or with asm hacking make browser make a spell that put's honey everywhere )

Could we add some new enemies (by hacking the freeze sprites)?
If so, what enemies would we want?

Would we want tiles that you can go behind?
( Done properly with sprites and a asm hack xD )

Would we want multiplayer? (could be done by sending a different arm9.bin to the client and modifing the checksum at runtime)

What sprites would we want on multiplayer?

Where's the fopen(fileId) in nsmb?
Does nsmb ever open arm9.bin with that function?
( if it doesn't just add
if (fileId==0) fileId= fileId of arm9.bin that's not hacked
)

Waitwaitwaitwait. We don't know yet enough ASM hacking to add new enemies, or to add "bowser spells" (?)

And the multiplayer thing was already discussed. Unfortunately it's not possible to hack it, it's secure. It's RSA encryption. Nothing more, nothing less. It can't be cracked. So we can't have DS Download play in our hack, especially if we're going to hack the hell out of arm9.bin.

The only multiplayer we can have is multicart or with flashme.

And the go-behind-tiles, it "might" be possible but I'm not sure at all

Hrm with the new enemies and other things like that, I was just wanting to put idea's out there.

However with DS Download I do believe it's possible because we could modify the DS game header to its original form and send an unmodified arm9.bin to the client.
Because the checksums And headers are correct then it will continue and check the arm9.bin which would be correct because we could send a unmodified .bin file to the Client.

If nsmb doesn't send the arm9.bin file from ram, and it fetches it from the rom, and it doesn't use the fopen file to grab the arm9.bin file in singleplayer, then we could probably hack the fopen function to grab a unmodified arm9.bin ( that would replace a minigame or something)

Well, maybe, but it'd only allow us to send hacked levels, not ASM hacks. It's not cool And it's not easy to do. I don't even know if it's doable.

Chocolate World - Sounds Yummy. Let's do it.
Multiplayer - Awesome if possible, but shouldn't be a priority.

If I might suggest another thing- How about tilesets from previous Mario games re-textured in NSMB style to use for original levels? I'm not talking about re-making, I'm talking about "expanding" the styles of previous Mario games combined with the NSMB style levels. I'd love to see some kind of Subcon type level. Or a NSMB styled SMW tileset.

Hmm... Got an idea. Maybe we could do that and remake some old levels from previous games too as a bonus (like after you beat the game you get a passward for the .rar file or something). If that doesn't take up too much time/effort.

Activator: it isn't bad, some time its even fun! we can use but not nsmb3 style, it's just...... Sick.
Chocolate: a WORLD sounds too large, just make some of them.

Edit: what about giant and mini level?
I know mariofamatic64 did it. But now ray figure out sprite84 zoom, we can make giants without more tileset.

Well, how about a sweets world, with chocolate, honey, candy, licorice and many other things, not JUST chocolate.

Also, we could make the castles be 'factories' of the sweets...

Yeah, a city world would be fantastic!

@ELMario, I think that everyone likes the idea of a chocolate world, so maybe you could try to make a quick test world, including chocolate, candy, and lollipops.


Also, in the city/chocolate world, who likes the idea of replacing the castles with a factory? (Chocolate factory/household stuff factory)

Hrm, yeah, a just chocolate world wouldn't go too well.

But i think that if we use other types of candy we could make it more interesting.

Eg: lollipops, teleporter candy (sprite 155), chocolate, chips, candy trees, chocolate goo (textured water), chocolate eaters (water bug retextured) and MANY other things like that.
In real like there are sooooo many types of candy and chocolate that there should be more than enough to fill in a whole world.

You know, some kind of vegetable world sounds good. Like the vegetable object from super mario world.
In these type of level we could make the main feature of using moving platforms or something else. IMO, airships seems overused, but it wouldn't hurt.
