Well, it's finally happened. For the past few months now, I had to spend several minutes every time I inserted my DSi SD card in my computer making sure it was inserted just right, otherwise it wouldn't read it. Yesterday, I wanted to install Cave Story on there, as well as the new update for alpha's hack and newluigidev's new hack. Maybe even add Ogre Battle, for use with lolSnes. After spending several hours unsuccesfully trying to get it working though, I was forced to come to one conclusion: my SD card reader is at last completely dead. So, I'm looking for some alternatives. Ways to get files on my DSi without having to stick it in there. Back when my 3DS was working, I could simply use FTP. The DS has a homebrew like that, but it's purely DS mode. In other words, it needs a WEP (or unlocked) internet connection, which nobody, my family included, uses anymore. Any other alternatives?

If it's your PC's SD card reader that is dead, you could get a SD card adapter that can be put into your PC's USB slot. Shouldn't be expensive.

If it's your DSi that won't read any SD cards anymore, I guess you should just get a flashcart. I guess you can still get those somewhere online.

I recommend to change the SD reader of the Nintendo DSI (if it is the case), it is easy and it is not soldered to the console since I repair my consoles by myself.

You have 3 options:

1.Get a flashcard as KingYoshi said.

2.get the replacement online or another way and change it yourself as it does not need soldering because it is a connector that you can easily fit with your own hands.

3.send it to a technician for repair, although I repair Nintendo DSi so you can ask me any question you have

No, it's my PC's reader that no longer works.

Well the only way is if you have a phone you can put your information in there through a micro SD, and with the patching thing there is an app called unipacther that is for patching on Android.

You can get SD readers for like $2. Even the cheapo ones will work just fine and are fast enough for the tiny ones.

I got like half a dozen of those flying around. I think all of my 5 DS(i) flash cards came with one.
