So I have gotten very far in the process of using Goombatlas to add custom world maps to my hack, however, after inserting the files in all the correct folders and using the asm patcher to put it in the game, nothing happens at all. All the other asm files work fine, so I have no clue what's messed up.

Not sure what steps you're following, but all you have to do is put the worldmap.h file in your source folder, create the replaces.x file in the template folder, export the c file in the source folder and overwrite the replaces.x you created with the export one. Then, run make and insert in the modded NSMBe.

Got something to happen, but its all glitchy and messed up, even without proper path directions.

Edit: Yes, also with a clean blank save file as well.

I'm not sure what exactly you expect.

Goombatlas allows you to edit the logic of the map as well as the placement of level nodes and objects like towers, castles, etc.

It doesn't allow you to edit the model of the map or the actual animations that are used for walking from one node to the next.

Not for world map editing specifically, but there should be some general tutorials for the plugin on the MKDS hacking wiki.
