I made a poll for you guys. Let’s see which one everyone likes most. My personal favorites are NSMB Editor, Mario Editor, and Mario Builder. So here are the pros and cons of each one (that I found):
Mario Builder: Stupid physics engine, but very good game customization.
Mario Editor: Only makes/edits levels, but has a TON of objects.
Super Mario Unimaker: It’s still in its early stages, but is VERY similar to Mario Maker.
NSMB Editor: A bit intimidating, but can also edit backgrounds and tilesets.
Super Mario Maker: only has a lot of the basic Mario stuff, but is the most easy to use among all of them.

Super Mario Maker is trash Imo. First, it has 2D graphics engine on the NSMBU theme, unlike the original. But here's what really gets me. NO SLOPES. Also, Nintendo could add more themes like Snow and Jungle to give it some more flavor. With NSMBe, you can do so much more, even though it's just for the DS, it's still pretty cool.

Yeah but SMM has so much more that SMM doesn't have, most notably its online features. NSMBe can do more but it's more difficult, less polished, and more nuianced also enemy stacking. Anyway, SMM can simulate slopes with some clever design, though I never felt limited by the lack of slopes.

I felt very limited by SMM. It does lack way too many sprites and mechanics that are necessary to make diverse levels. It's basically NSMB2 but even worse.

SMM's mechanics force the player to create mechanics that can be cool but are very hacky and look unpolished. These also lead to cheap difficulty in far too many levels.

Also the lack of being able to introduce custom mechanics like graphics or code make the game entirely unattractive for me.

I dunno, I liked the variety. But I can see how an experienced ROMhacker who's used to full access to a game would feel very limited by it. Although I think the cheap difficulty in levels comes from little kids spamming enemies. Any level designer who can create unique mechanics with what SMM has is probably smart enough to realise nobody likes those kinds of levels.

Yeah, someone like Ceave Gaming or The one and only, Psycrow, are AWESOME at building AWESOME stuff in SMM.

I like both SMU and SMM, but I also like some that aren't on this list, like Mario Multiverse.
