I was scrolling through my old posts again, just for fun, and got some nostalgia from it. Back in the day when I used to visit this site everyday and actually hacked things. And what hit me when reading these posts was how awesome you guys are! Because of that, I created this thread to give some shoutouts for other users, and to say what you like about them.

If I didn't include you, it's not because I don't like you. These users have just left a mark on me or I've been kind of close to them.

So let's start:

Dirbaio - This guy is amazing at what he does. Back in the day when he was very active around here, (a shame he isn't anymore^^) he was basically the perfect site owner. He always talks to his users as he's one of them, and when I had a problem with a troll here, he solved the problem in almost two hours. I know this is what should be expected from him, but I haven't really come across a board where someone does his job as good as  Dirbaio does.

Arisotura - I remember before I made my first post, how anxious I was to actually post something. Mainly cause of this guy here. But when I finally did, and I know I was an idiot at the time, he was really nice to me. It sort of encouraged me to keep on posting and coming here, and to let that idiot part behind me. If I actually succeeded in that, IDK.

ray - One of the only two members I've done things with outside of the site. Was a pretty good friend of me here. But the main reason why I respect him is because of his hacks. His hacks are so good, they were my inspiration to start NSMB hacking, and later on SM64DS and MKDS hacking. All because of his video's and the games he produced. It was amazing.

MarioFanatic64 - This guy is originality galore. He keeps on doing these things in hacks like no one has ever seen before, and his Endless Earth hack almost got me started at hacking NSMB again. Is also one of the more positive and nice people around here too.

Freeze - Same as  ray and  MarioFanatic64, his hacks are what inspired me to keep going. But furthermore, he was also one of the users who always helped me when I couldn't patch something correctly or something like that. Also a shame he doesn't visit anymore.

KingYoshi - I can't forget you now can I . He's been my best friend on this site for all these years. He still visits too! The countless hours of chat in the profile page were also really fun!

MarioSunshine - Being the 'nice guy' in these sort of things, normally means you just can't think of anything about them, but if there's one word to describe  MarioSunshine, it would be 'positive'. I haven't seen anyone else like this guy around here, which is sort of a shame. The cheerfulness and happiness that comes with his posts is truly a thing of beauty, and I don't think it's something to be overlooked.

snake block - I really admire his honesty. I know it gets him in a lot of trouble, but the way he just says things I wouldn't even dare to say really left an impression on me.

Thierry - Reminds me a little bit of me in some ways. His dedication to keep on improving really is admirable, and probably one of the users who has improved the most here. He's also one of the most helpful guys here, and in this community where that's rarely seen, it makes him stand out.

MiguelMML - The one fellow Ace Attorney fan out here, and the only one where I could converse with over stuff like AA hacking and things like that. I actually had tons of fun with it. His willingness to learn is something to be praised. Always when I found something he wanted to know it pretty much immediately. It was really fun to have someone else who joined me in that.

MeroMero - Probably one of the smartest users here, and someone who types his posts very carefully, with a lot of idea and weight behind them. I remember having the conversation about the plot for NSMBCR, in which I stood in the same situation as my first post on this forum, because I kind of feared him. And, same with  Arisotura, he turned out to be really nice. It was also fun, since I had sort of retired from hacking, to talk with someone about writing, which is basically my new hobby.

So that's it! What do you like about your fellow NSMBHD users?

I don't really know the people here very well, but I have to admire how talented  Dirbaio is. Seriously, it amazes me how much he has done for the scene, especially with ASM hacking! Dirbaio is one of the most helpful people I've ever met, and there's no denying that he brought the NSMB scene to life.

Arisotura is also awesome; I've always kinda looked up to him (whoops, that sounded weird ) because of Coinkiller, SM64DSe, Whitehole, blargSNES, etc. Besides that, he is also friendly and helpful.

MarioFanatic64 - Where do I even start? MF64 IS A GOD. Seriously, Endless Earth is practically Nintendo-quality, and I love his dedication. I mean, he has put out 4 hacks, a feat that most rom hackers never do.

I don't think I've ever talked to  skawo, but I respect his dedication to his hacks.

Wow, really thanks for saying that. I also have read the rest of your post. Also thanks for that. It really reminds me to those good old days of NSMBHD.

(Btw, your English has become extremely good xD)

MeroMero. - The one  snake block hates the most!

uh

no

wat

Thierry : Mostly nice, and very helpful. Like you said, he's also very keen on improving his post quality and his work in NSMB hacking. Very admittive, and he mostly keeps a quite fun attitude...mostly.

Dirbaio : The owner of this website and the main admin of the forum, he is very nice and solves whatever problem is told to him quickly most of the time. He is also extremely good in hacking New Super Mario Bros., and is very good at coding and ASM.

MarioFanatic64 : Amazingly quick and good at making levels, and has pumped out multiple full hacks. Not just mini hacks. Not just 5 world hacks... FULL, hacks. Four. That is a big thing on this website. He has very good level design, especially for someone who is so quick at levels. He is also daring to make even bigger hacks, bigger than the original I think. (right?) Judging from Endless Earth, he is amazing at hacking and is always focused on his biggest priority, instead of having forty billion projects all at once.

Bunched together a bunch of opinions.

re: people afraid to post because of me, or whatever

My moderation style aims at getting rid of bad users quickly. "Bad users" being those who aren't willing to improve, or are just too dumb to understand what we're telling them.

I also don't shoot users down just for the hell of it. I try to be constructive about it, and more or less subtle depending on the context. I generally get blunt when you did something really stupid, missed something that is obvious, or keep screwing up despite previous signals.

Don't be afraid to post just because I moderate. Don't constantly ask me if it's okay to post X or Y, either. There's one simple rule that keeps you out of trouble: use common sense.

Dirbaio - He's always been a great guy. Always a people person, always in a bright mood. He played an instrumental role in the development of NSMBe. And he also started this board! What's not to like?

ray,  Freeze - If it weren't for these two guys, I probably would have stopped NSMB hacking after NSMB2. Their level design and creativity with New Super Hacker Bros. inspired me to continue, and eventually make Clone Tag Team 1.

gridatttack - I always respected. There aren't very many jul veterans left, but I'm happy that grid's still here. He's a cool guy. We may not always agree on things, but it's never gotten between us or anything.

TRS, RicBent, Wesley and  skawo - I'm very impressed by their hacks. My hacks are overrated- these ones look like they're going to be the best of the best. I'm excited about what I'll see from them in the future.

Arceus - I'd consider him a good friend. He started out here as a big fan of my work, but then I found out that I was a big fan of his work. Then we both became moderators together. I think we made each other better hackers.

Apologies to anyone I didn't mention- there are a lot of great people here, but I can't sit here all day writing about them... Sorry!

You know, these thread feels as a sort of goodbye one

Anyway, here are some of my thoughts.

I will always remember all the users that were at Jul, before we moved here:

Hiccup - If it wasn't for him, I would perhaps never found the NSMB hacking section of Jul if he didn't told me such forum existed after he found one of my NSMB custom level videos.

Dirbaio - A great guy. I will never forget everything he did for NSMB hacking. I remember back in the Jul days, IIRC, Ninjifox had stopped developing the editor, and dirbaio came into the forums and offered help to continue adding all the cool features we have now (notably, importing custom BG and tileset images)

ray and  Freeze - When I always read about one of them, I always think of the 2 at the same time. I respect them due to being the pioneers in making great levels when custom tilesets and BG became a thing, as well as pushing it farther with Hex editing (notably, the cool rain mod) Even though the controversy of them keeping information hidden at first was not nice, I eventually knew such information will had been made public in the end.

Garmichael - Back in the old days, when I first joined Jul, Garmichael had at the time the best level design out there. Cool levels with what could be done, as well as making tutorials to use NSMBe 4.7 and discovering some other stuff. I always enjoyed the few successful contests he hosted.

MarioFanatic64 - Amazing user. I remember when he first joined jul and posted the thread about Clone Tag Team, which was an amazing idea. I also respect how he has managed to make all these complete NSMB hacks and all the cool ideas he has. It's nice to see he is still around after all this time

Now for the people I met here:

Arisotura - I remember reading...stuff about his past actions when I was at Jul. At first I wasn't sure what to think of him, but after hanging around here, and especially at the times where I was really active at the IRC, I got him to know more. Hes a cool user, despite of what others think about him. I admire how he has managed to make 2 editors for the 3D mario games (WhiteHole and SM64DS editor), as well as the promising progress he has now in 3DS hacking.

TRS - Really nice user, and perhaps the one I befriended the most. I will be thankful for the feedback as well as testing some of my other hacks, particularly my SMK one. Also the IRC chats we had, in the final days of me being really active at the IRC, mainly for being the only one to talk with lol (Along with Tahcryon)

I don't have the time to keep writing for all of the users I remember, but here are some mentions of other users that come to mind, most of them for being regular members here, and others for doing actions that stirred things up a bit:
STORMENT,  MarioSunshine,  Arceus, Nadia,  RiksKing,  Ruedajv10,  Lunarius,  CreativiPie, RicBent, xfix,  MeroMero,  skawo, Thierry,  snake block,  SaturnYoshi,  ENEKOwii,  josuehackerds, SKJmin and more...

I didn't included those who I mainly got to know them better on other boards :v

Also, special mention to luckwii. I wonder what happened to him. He was an useful member, discovering many stuff with the hardest to understand sprite data back then, as well at the cool Metroid hack...but then, one day he simply disappeared. I heard via other means that he had some problems IRL... I just hope that he is well.
