The problem is that it's gonna loop through all the level and then it will look like there's over 9000 moons in the Mario world.

Unless I'm wrong?

There'll only ever be one moon at a time, so players will likely not notice.

Yeah that's what I was saying. Or we can make the BG not scroll at all. Or we can take advantage of the horizontal part loop to make the moon appear only once (see the Peach castle BG)

Yeah the idea with the waterfalls is pretty cool But the clouds are looking a bit weird. If you haven´t wrote it in the title I wouldnt know that they are clouds. Maybe you can rework them a bit.

I like the last two backgrounds. Is the Waterfall Background an edit of the Volcano Background? It'd be cool if you can use it's animations.

It is a recolor of the Volcano Background. So the Animations should work fine.

they don't work because when re-importing the background, it regenerates the tilemap from scratch so tile numbers are all different and animations don't work.

What you could do if you want animations to work is edit only the palette. If it's a recolor editing the palette should be enough. The thing is, NSMBe doesn't have an easy way to recolor palettes for now... You'll have to edit every single color by hand or use another program

Or you export the NCG + NCL as an image and edit it. Then reimport it not using the BG editor, but the 2d texture editor. This way it should keep the tilemaps.

You can open these with the NSMBe. Then extract the texture as a PNG file.
