For me, the ideal NSMBHD is a place where one can get help concerning hacking NSMB (DS, Wii, 2 and U), share one's NSMB series games hack's progress and screenshots and share one's NSMB series games hacks, but also a place where one can just relax, have fun and chat about random stuff. I've always compared this board to Kuribo64, which has the above mentality (but replace "NSMB series games" with "SM64DS and SMG1/2"). Also, I think the board and the NSMBCentral Discord should be two seperate things that shouldn't influence each other. For example, both NSMBHD and K64 have a forum dedicated to NSMB2 hacking, but for neither board this is redundant. They're two separate things, even though some hacks have hack threads on both sites. Similarly, one should be able to choose whether to focus one's posting behaviour on the board or on the 'Cord.

That'd be my ideal NSMBHD.

EDIT because ninja'd: agreed,  KingYoshi. The board worked just as fine before the cleanup IMO, and it's totally true that Discord is lightyears far from being lurker-friendly. And that's what boards are: lurker-friendly. For example, forum game threads like my fave, Corrupt-a-Wish, are just as - if not more - fun to read as to participate in. And I've been lurking here for months before regging today.

That. Why do we have to divide tasks between NSMBCCord and NSMBHD, if they can co-exist as two separate, full-fledged entities. In such a case, one could choose between the board, the 'Cord or both - a lurker for example (and there are often more lurkers on any board than users) would choose the board because here they don't need to register.

Oh yeah, some normally unused animations can be seen in specific situations:
• Mini Mario/Luigi crouching: in Challenge Mode, when pressing DOWN on a slope descending towards the left edge of the screen if you're on the far-left. Doing so as Shell Mario/Luigi will make the plumber rapidly alternate between crouching and uncrouching, giving him a translucent, ghostlike appearance.
• Shell Mario/Luigi sliding: if on the ?-Switch triggered stairs in one of the ghost houses if they're collapsed. Shell Mario/Luigi will slide off on his butt.

No, really. Seriously, those graphics - tilesets, backgrounds, the rain and the HUD! This doesn't even look like a DS game anymore! Plus, obvious Mario 3 reference in W2-1 is obvious.
BTW, those Bowser paintings in the World 1 castle level, are those ripped from SM64?

@ KingYoshi: Without a clear subject? But Castle Courtyard is a thing: a thread to chat about anything. Not that the difference between one big random-chat thread and lots of smaller, specific threads really matters, so I wouldn't really care if Castle Courtyard got nuked, TBH. I'm neutral on that. But the introductions thread should remain open, for example.

You'll be surprised about what SNES music haxx0rz can pull off (geez, now I sound like those automated ads): I watched a YT vidya of a recent SMW hack, Adventures Begin. It had a 1:1 port of SM64's Big Boo's Haunt's Merry-Go-Round song. I was like: holy shit! Yeah, SMW hacking is VERY advanced. I hope NSMB hacking will someday reach that level too. I mean, DS has more capabilities than SNES.

My mom also has a Commodore 64. I used to read the manuals a lot and write quite sophisticated BASIC programs on paper. Yeah, I'm a quick learner when it comes to programming languages, so I have good hopes about learning the DS's ARM ASM in the future for my SM64DS hack.

So, I've just been b& from Kuribo64!

What did I do, you ask? I inputted "Attack helicopter♂, i.e. a man who doesn't care" in the gender field, which apparently got me auto-banned for... TRANSPHOBIA? WTF. The only thing I meant with that "attack helicopter" ruckus was that I don't care about my gender, and don't do labels. IMO "attack helicopter" is label-assignerphobic, not transphobic! I fully support the LGBTIQIA+ community, but I just think all those labels used nowadays for all different kinds of groups in society are bullshit, because they only cause less unity! Why does anyone have to be their own label? I am who I am! I don't care that I'm a man, hence the "attack helicopter" thingy. And, it was an auto-ban, which is bullshit for three reasons:
1. The board banned me and didn't change my gender field? Can't it just say: "You can't input that!" and disallow me to save my profile changes until I've inputted something that is OK?
2. Admins are the ones that should ban users, not algorithms. Algorithms have no sentience.
3. See above about algorithms: wordfilters are toxic bullshit anyways. See Pokémon games.

So yeah, I'm a banned user now! Lawlz! And the board didn't warn me! I call unfairness. Not to insult  Arisotura, though, plus, I know she takes REAL transphobia personally, because she's a transwoman, but I didn't have any transphobic intentions at all! Just wanted to rant about this. Sorry.

But this can be closed now. I want this board to continue with whatever its users were doing. I'm sorry for flooding some users' usercomments and I've deleted all comments on my profile about the ban. Tomorrow is another day, another dawn, and as time goes on, I will be unbanned and all this will be forgotten. Plus, this thread could turn into a bashfest or something. So just close this. Let's discuss stuff like hacking again.
