An entry from my NSMB Hacking Diary (Google Docs) I made with  Freeze:

23.01.2012

The offset 0x2099 in the OV 1 can change the text on the bottom Screen, while the Nintendo Logo appears. But I could not figure out the format. I always end up with a freezing game or some different random crap. But it is possible to edit it.


EDIT: I know its possible to edit the NINTENDO red thingie, too. But I didn't write down what Offset it is

I was discovered what to make a tanooki mario, you must edit the shell_in animation-(the animation is in one of the pl files)


How often do you still want to post this idea? You even did it on Cw-Games.org and your "discovery" is an idea already multiple people had, but they couldn't DO IT. Don't tell me you know how to edit animations.

If I remember correctly, you first have to place them on a higher area like the bricks you are standing on. They will always jump down until they reach ground from their starting position. He probably just tries to jump to ground under him as if he would be on the bricks.

Go to the tileset editor and open the grasland tileset. Then go to map 16


Now you can select the tiles you need from the right and paint it on the left (you should recreate the tiles you need for the mount).

Then you go the Tile Behaviors and select those tiles.
For the gras-thingie-ground you select this Tile Behavior:

It allows Mario to jump trough from the bottom and stand on top.
For the other ones you just use 00 00 00 00 (which is nothing, so Mario can walk trough).

EDIT:
After that you need to add them in the objects.
