New Super Mario Advance 2 is the second hack made by Gerry, and the fifth released New Super Mario Bros. hack to date. It is a direct remake of the levels in Super Mario World. The hack also features levels from some other Mario fangames and New Super Mario Bros. Wii. As such, most of the graphics from Super Mario World are re-used in this hack. It was released in 2012, after New Super Mario Bros. 5: Clone Tag Team and before New Super Mario Bros. Deluxe!
1. Production
New Super Mario Advance 2 is mostly considered a direct port of Super Mario World to the New Super Mario Bros. game engine. Levels appear mostly exactly as they did in the original game, which includes the original graphics from the Super Nintendo original. However World 5 always consisted of World 3 levels from New Super Mario Bros. Wii as Gerry stated that he "can't cover all the levels of Super Mario World." When it was finished however, it became one of the fastest New Super Mario Bros. hack to be completed yet, with development spanning between January and November 2012.
