You might not have known this, but everyone knows the intro cutscene. Take note of the land (the bush, flowers etc) now when you start 1-1 look at the beginning of the level. It's where Peach is captured. Thought it was a good Easter egg so, that's it see ya. ~Ndymario

Will post pics later*

It's not an easter egg, just a glitch you can reproduce on nsmb

But nice discovery anyway

Is it really denominated a ‘glitch’? I'd rather call it a ‘trick’.

The intro/level thing is something obvious that's been known for ages.

The 1up trick is a classic. You can do it in so many mario games.

And yeah, it multiple games, said 'glitch' was actually intended. Nintendo themselves made videos about it showing it.

I'm pretty sure if you look into a disassembly of SMB, you can see that the 1-Up thing was purposely programmed.

I agree.

The original concept of the meaning of an Easter egg, was being modified over the time and across several cultures.
So far, the only eggs that I had truly seen in Super Mario games were twofold:

- Yoshi egg
  - Birdo egg

EDIT: Yes, it's was a terrible joke.
