Guys, I found something super-odd.
I was roaming around Super Mario 64 in Peach's castle, and got into the place with the Boos. But, I found something...odd....very odd. I found this sign saying "L is real". NO HACKS. I don't know how to hack SM64. Promise. 100% serious. Could he really be in the game? Discuss it here... I didn't believe this rumor until...now. |

Wait, just looked it up and see what I found.
On the bottom, it says "in Paper M". This indicates...LUIGI IS PLAYABLE IN PAPER MARIO? |

That second line supposedly reading "In Paper M" is crap. This was 1996. Back then, Paper Mario was known as Super Mario RPG 2. Also, some people argue that the plaque reads "Eternal Star", which would make sense considering there's a statue of a star above it. I still want to believe in L is Real, but there's always the Luigi model hack for that. Well, I don't think the bottom reads "in Paper M" because PM's name was "Super Mario RPG 2". So it should read somethin' like "in Super Mario RPG 2"...
Or probably they added the egg after PM's new name was confirmed? |

There were no alternate versions of Mario 64, outside the Japan-only Shindou Edition. If you wanna play with Luigi, get the DS remake. And google how to get him, I'm not sure of how... On the ds remake you can also play with Wario (and you start with Yoshi).

Actually I have found a method to get Luigi in Super Mario 64, N64 version. No colorcodes, and Luigi's L on his hat. But it requires hacking methods and doing some illegal stuff (Getting a ROM, unless you can dump it).
Just take a Project64 and a ROM of Super Mario 64, Get Super Mario 64 ROM Extender, extend the ROM, open up Toad's Tool 64 latest version, Click Edit Textures, find the "L is real" texture (It looks like the same one I showed you in the image in the sign below the star), and change Mario Size to "L is real" (Yes, type just that in the text box) and press enter, the Mario sprites on the left and right of the Mario Size box will change into Luigi's. Play the ROM and you got Luigi. Simple. Worked for me. |

It's an Easter Egg in TT64. What it does is really turn Mario into Luigi by the means of hacking.
I'm surprised people find any sense out of that plate. The characters are 3 pixels tall. You can read whatever your imagination wants in there. Could very well be 'I like trains' or whatever silly crap. Also soupy fortresses wat _________________________ Kuribo64 - zrghij |

By the way, I keep thinking, Luigi is in so many Mario games. Then why did Nintendo make this L is real only in Super Mario 64?!?? Did they do it deliberately just to make up rumors? Or, did they try to hint that there is a new game coming? By the way, Polari, it's "L is real" written. And there's "in Paper M" written below that. |
