I did a quick playthrough (not 100%) of the game using Dolphin with "dump textures" enabled. Since some of the backgrounds are flat single textures instead of 3D models, theoretically this would give me some backgrounds to work with. After I played the game, I searched though the texture dump folder for anything I could use. I have some more I'm working on, but after this next batch there isn't really any more to work with.

(btw one of them is a beach top BG, but no forest; sorry about that)

Fun fact: most of these backgrounds were originally 256x256 or 512x512 in size. They're complex enough that I had to resize them to 128x256 or 256x128 max to make it work with the background editor, otherwise the limited tilespace tears the background to shreads. But it turns out the smaller screen size balances that out and it still looks good in-game.

Same goes for backgrounds. If it doesn't say credit is needed, then credit isn't needed.

That cloud bg looks epic. I don´t know where it was used either but maybe in bonus rooms?
The others are good too (as always).


I have no idea where it came from. But it was in my textures folder so it was fair game.

Looks wasteful to have the graphics duplicated 4 times, when they're mostly the same graphics with different colors. Is that a limitation of the graphics importer?

While it does work and look decent using only 1 palette, I didn't see the point of using only 256 colors when I could use 1024.


Here are the two (1 palette and 4 palette), side by side. The difference is small, but noticeable.

I tried to edit out the circular door frame, but I'm really bad at editing detailed graphics. So I'm working around it instead by not using a door entrance and just using a normal entrance.

Wow, these have got some nice ripping quality. I wonder why that in NSMBWii Castle Boss tileset you included the background in the tileset.

Great job! These should be useful a lot in many hacks in the future. I might ask for permission to use some of them though, as my ripping skill isn't that good. ^^

Hey TRS I just noticed it in a lot of your Tilesets: You don't need to use extra tile-slots for the same object in another color.

You put the red one on another tile-slot which is completely unneeded. The good thing with multiple palettes IS that you can have multiple objects without using more tiles.

EDIT:
Same here, you can just put all of the bocks in the top left corner but on different palettes.
