I'm taking a shot in the dark here but pretty sure before the series ends, Twilight Sparkle will eventually surpass her mentor in every way possible and will inherit the Astral Sisters' legacy.
About the CMC, from a story telling standpoint, those 3 must get their cutie marks before the series ends, that's the one thing I'm looking for so far.
One thing that make them interesting is that due to the fact they are still blank flanks, they have much more margin for character development than almost every other characters in the series so far.
I would disappointed if they're still blank flank by the end, that would be bad writing but unlike the crazier bunch in this fandom, I'm not one to throw a hissy fit over a TV series.
