I want to know how can we change which level (or area) will be challenged. In some areas of original game, the challenge will turn off automatically to prevent stucking in some part, or else you can't proceed. From that point, I doubt how to change it. Because in my levels, as well as many people', some of it require backtrack part or going back too. If this challenge is still turned on, the game will stuck.

I bet there's a table in some overlay somewhere that defines the levels to be used in the challenge mode...

Agreed. That's a big problem.
For example:
In skjmin's nsmb3, 7-3 is a anti-level. If you turn challenge on, you are stuck at the beginning xD

Yep, this is serious thing. We should try our best to edit it.
Or else, block the secret challenge mode - no accessible.

Edit: Oh, yeah, blocking it will do a lot of good. Anyone know how?

I don't know how to do, but I think it can be done by one of the more advanced NSMB-Hacker here. I really don't know.
(by a nice AR-Code or ASM-Code probably?)

I think its not really hard. Extract a area where the mode is blocked and import it into your level. Then make your level in this area. It will work. Underground areas also have something that allows the ground pound entrance. The ground pound won't work everywhere

I don't think this is stored in the Level-File. Did you test it?
I think it is stored in some overlay table.

Also: I think the ground pound entrance works anywhere.

Nah, I think its stored in the Level-File. That would be much more dynamic than coding it^^
Mario-Sunshine could test it ;D
And the ground-pound entrance doesnt work everywhere^^ I created many level with this entrance but it didnt work Then I was too lazy to copy 1-2 xD

Well someone needs to confirm. Nintendo's known for making ugly hacks so it's hard to say.

I can't really test because I have stuff to code ATM and it'll take me a while to gather information before I can start hacking around for the info (for example, what areas are blocked and what else can be blocked)

I think it'll be easier to just find out where's the RAM address of the flag that indicates whether the secret challenge mode is on, and then make a quick ASM hack to force it to 0
