Desmume or a Nintendo DS, if you want it faster, Desmume, if you want better quality, the Nintendo DS

No not really. I have the rom opened in Desmume, and everytime I save the editor in the level, the rom doesn't need reloaded at all to be played. Just edit a level, hit save, and switch to the emulator which is already opened and ready, and leave it that way

that's exactly what I was referring to, although a Nintendo DS is a good option, if you have Twilight menu ++ or R4, it's cooler because you test them on original hardware, like I do with my levels, but if your pc is goodwith Desmume, no problem, use what Skylander said
