I haven't touched on how the world map works at all, but for some reason when I get the secret flagpole in 1-2, the secret path doesn't unlock. To try something, I started a fresh savefile and when I beat 1-2, I beat the secret exit, but it unlocked the normal path where it'd normally go if you beat the level normally. What could be the cause of this?

Did you set the flag as the secret exit flag?
