I think it was a specific activator. Look at 8-final castle to see how it's done.
But you'll also need two views for it, one rightside-up and the other upside-down. It's quite complicated. |

I think it can only be done in that level. I would imagine that there would be a lot of changes to make it work in a different level.

I dunno. The easiest way to test it would be exporting the 8-final castle, importing it in another level and testing it.

I think it may be the castle tiles that allows this swap. Some objects in tilesets contain data. The switch activates the data for the purple and green tiles. Notice that you can stand on those tiles in W-8-final castle-1. So they are hard coded already with data for solid tiles, even though in map16 they are 00 00 00 00. This may be why it only works in this level....or with this tileset.
