Ever wish that the New Super Mario Bros. game were harder?
Well here it is! A full-length 8 World hack is coming your way!
The Mushroom Pack is based off of Mario Maker levels and the Impossible Pack from NSMB2 with harder levels in all, but you know, 8 worlds now.

This hack will use the vanilla tiles but some custom decorations made by me, additionally this will keep almost all of the original level themes but not copied from the game.
Levels will either: Be much longer, have short time period, no checkpoint, or just be difficult.
Please note: This is not a Kazio hack, all levels should be possible.

SCREENSHOTS:
 photo Screensho1_zpsundjxz7v.png

World 1 - 100% complete
World 2 - 70% complete
World 3 - 30% complete
World 4 - 0% complete
World 5 - 10% complete
World 6 - 0% complete
World 7 - 0% complete
World 8 - 20% complete

No demo... That might make it easier.

Looks interesting

A lot of hacks which got harder level design does not have a good level design, however, this one is actually well made

I also have a question, what kind of graphic editing are you planning to do?

First, Thank you.
Second, Small decorations (Like the block in the sand for the first desert picture), background tiles (Like the black wall on the ghost house), and some hazard tiles like spikes and stuff. Nothing too big.

This hack looks promising. Good luck with this.
I've just two question:

  • Are you going to keep the Worldthemes? I don't mean W1 should be Grassland, W2 should be Desert etc..., I mean the levels are random? For example W1-1 is Grassland, W1-2 is Forest, like Coin Rush in NSMB2...
  •
  • How about the BGs? Are they going to be unmodified?

  • Another time, good luck.

    Ontopic:
It's nice to see that some new hacks are on their way, these were lacking the last time.
    One question:
What is this? Is it a particle or a graphical feature? Or something else?

Anyway good luck, a hard hack with good design will be fun to play (as long as it doesn't get kaizo-ish)

Pretty sure it's supposed to be the upper right corner of the question block embedded in the sand.

    Definitely a decoration then.

The levels wont be random but will have more of a NSMB Wii style to them.
Not sure about the BGs, I might change a few depending if I need it.

It wont, in fact my goal is to make sure every level can be completed in one run but still hard enough that you wont do it the first try at all. Sorta like Mario Maker.

Wow, looks good. Legitimately hard hacks (without enemy spam and random kaizo crap) are usually good. Good luck with the hack

What would people think of a kaizo-ish hack incorporating shell jumps and stuff? Like no random enemies, just jumps requiring good accuracy and precision.

For NSMB that would be terrible, the way the game handles shells is beyond annoying.
But that doesn't matter, now does it?
    Anyways
I might actually let someone test this... some levels feel cheap to me with enemy placement and whatnot.
Here's an example of a level I'm not to sure about.

While I'm at too, all the levels in this hack will be much longer then before, so this picture is basically only a small fraction of the level. (Also custom background tiles)

    Hello TruelyJohn64,

For the little that I could saw, your hack is promising.

However, was found no link to download the patch to try it.
Have you aim to share a patch or at least some finished levels, so we can test?
    Maybe an Youtube video?

No demo... That might make it easier.

The point is that you have to be surprised when you see a level, you'll be able to practice and find more secrets once there is a demo.

But I guess I'll make a video or something. (I knew this would happen too.)

A new screenshot? Haven't had one of those in a while...
     photo Ting_zpsvgvbizbt.png
Honesty, this could be either a pretty hard or normal level depending who you are or what path you take.
For the most part this level is very Mario 3ish so if that your thing then... yay?

(Also, yes  pinet, the video will come soon.)

    Hello TruelyJohn64,

I just saw that you answer your thread.
Have you decided on a date to deliver the video to the community?
If so, when members could have the pleasure of watching the results of your work in progress?

I wish you a Spock salute!

@pinet: You should just wait. Perhaps he didn't specify an approximate date because he either doesn't know when he'll do it or to keep suspense…

Anyway, I'm looking forward to this! I've gotta say, though, the hack's name doesn't really imply it's hard. And one question: will you do a playthrough of all levels? That'd be great.

    I could not…

    Hello dear Asproek,
I gave feedback with 10 days late, after the last answer.
Very inelegant of me. Forgive me all about it.

But if you permit, I'm strengthening your question to the most worthy author of this hack.
TruelyJohn64: will you make a playthrough of all levels? That'd be great.
