One day in the United Chapiñon were celebrating the birthday of a toad, when suddenly came and stole Bowser Princess Toadstool, Mario duty will be to rescue the princess from the evil clutches of Bowser.

I really like the new background for the bottomscreen.
Also the palettes of the HUD elements are really cool.

I also never thought of this awesome tiling idea:


Using a tileset from the Community Remix makes this the hack of 2016

I actually played this hack. Awful. A lot of cut-off/bad tiling; another bunch of blandness; boring design; enemy spam in some sections; weird, uncomfortable layout; corrupted graphics everywhere; prohibited use of the Community Remix's tilesets; and the list goes on. A pipe that leads to death, W1-A not being playable… From missing Star Coins and a missing entrance on the final boss door at the castle to an untouchable world screen and beyond!

EDIT: Shoot, I just realized that this hack's creator is banned, making my comment sort of useless.

NSMB The (old) new (mis)adventure



As MarioFanatic64 kindly asked for the members to play, I made my homework and I decided to give a chance for ShyGuy64.

The "New Adventure" is obviously not a game made by professional masters designers. However, as I decided to venture out for this audacious hack, I could feel a touch of a potential member. There could come good ideas.


Pics: The Ray's Shy Guy version 2011, and interesting enemies position.

From far away, you can see that the game has many design flaws. Many failures even! Tilesets poorly presented, few details on the scenarios and pipes with misplaced outputs. The feeling is that the game has not been tested completely and its creator, in his haste, had prematurely show the result to the community. But I decided to reveal these basic mistakes and try to observe a little deeper what ShyGuy64 intended to do.


Pics: Score, points and time messed, but I never tired from Twhomps.

The game ideas are simple but fun. For this reason I booked the job posting three videos for your joy. Something very rare! This game, for me, presented two basic modes in abundance: running and jumping. The levels offer the player a juicy amount of enemies along the way. I realized immediately that the displayed play style was linear ...like... avoid everything and reach the end. Some moments are fun, like running to escape the Thwomps. I never get tired of it.


Youtube: level 1-1 (2:18) and 1-T (1:54).

This member could have published one or another level, in appropriate forum sessions, as in "The levels single thread!" or on a personal thread inside the "General Chat" area. If ShyGuy64 keep a little more calm and bothered to keep the technical quality, this mini-hack could have been a success. But unfortunately this did not happen.


Youtube: level 1-5 (1:44).

This member rushed in too quickly to prove that it can deliver results in this community. Potential ideas collapsed like a deck of cards, as well as their not finished levels. And because of that, this member has paid a price which, personally, I think a little too high for what is being proposed. ShyGuy64 was banned.

I am not sad that he had been banned, but I am sad that he had been banned just for being dumb. Anyway, ShyGuy64 managed to leave their mark on this community before leave, by offering some new levels and restating some classic ideas that never lose grace.
