So, this is about converting NSBMD Models to OBJ. This is necessarily for Model Hacking, since there isn't an NSBMD Editor (at the moment). Anyway, the only program I know which can convert NSBMD to OBJ is MKDS Course Modifier. Unfortionately, its converter isn't that useful when converting complicated NSBMDs, like the Worldmaps. This is how it looks when converted w1.nsbmd to OBJ.

This is pretty messed up. It's fixable, but still..

But I was thinking:
The NSBMD Viewer of MKDSce is pretty good. When viewing an NSBMD model with it, all information of the model should be in your computer's RAM. Maybe it could be possible to make an OBJ of the NSBMD by using that info somehow.

Another idea could be seaching for a way to capture NSBMD models from emulators.

I just finished ripping the model and had no problems besides the textures.

What version of MKDS Course Modifier are you using and what are you using to view the model?

Strange..

I used v4.0, Beta 11.
That screenshot is how the OBJ looks when opening with an OBJ Editor.

So what I've figured out is that a lot of transparent textures (Most notable the flowers) don't really work anywhere.

I would try to re-download it or find the last version that was posted to get the best results.

.-.
oh.
No idea what's going on.
Maybe go find an older version or rip it and see if it's not like that.

There is this version of MKDSCM, from late 2014, that seems to be the last release before Gericom decided to work more on EFE, and exporting models doesn't seem to be an issue with this version.

Well, that definitely looks much better. Thanks

The only thing left to be able to make full custom Worldmaps is the texture animations (like the water and the paths showing up when finished a level). I think these can be recreated using Maya/3dsmax, but yeah.. those programs aren't easy to find. Not sure how you have to recreate them though. I mean, the water won't be a big problem, I guess. But the paths.. you'll have to set when an (semi-)invisible path becomes visible somehow.

EDIT: Hm.. I doesn't look that great in-game yet.
