So I decided to download this and give it a spin, and I have to say, this is one of the more fun NSMB hacks I've played. I've gotten up to World 3, and I really like how the Star Coins are in easy-to-find locations, so on an average level I tend to find at least one coin, which is a lot like the vanilla NSMB. The level themes are very creative, and I'm always excited to learn what the next world holds in store for me. As for tools to patch xdelta patches, I remember getting the xdelta program with UI bundled with a couple of the hacks I downloaded before (mainly NSMB3 and NSMB Origins), so I had no problems with that.

EDIT: Ok, I've found ONE thing I don't like about this hack so far.

Ok, just completed World 5-Tower, and I'm still impressed with what I'm playing. The difficulty at times can be high, particularly when trying to get a Star Coin, but it's never unfair to the point where I give up on playing the game. On the contrary, I tend to keep at it until I've accomplished what I was trying to do.

A few things of note:
- I've noticed that after several levels, used Mushroom Houses respawn. Was that in the vanilla NSMBDS or was that something you coded in? It's not a negative, as it helps when I need power-ups to get through a difficult stage.
- I could swear that the pipe textures resemble the New Super Mario Bros. U pipes, which is a good thing!
- I played 2-A, and the worst it did was give me a headache and make it hard to see sometimes. But then again, that's kinda the point of a sandstorm, so kudos.

1. I never noticed that o.O But I didn't changed anything in that so it's Vanilla.
2. Yeah, it's NSMB U
3. I had no problems with it, but well.. you are not the only one who has problems with that effect

I have problems patching this hack (I hate hate patches, Thank god the sonic hacking community doesn't believe in patches) But due to all that good feedback I'll try harder to patch it. The xdelta patcher corrupted my U rom and caused it to randomly crash.

I forget what rom region you need, but are you sure you have the right one? When does it crash?

Also, it's illegal for the sonic comunitty to post ROMs, even if theyre community doesn't "believe in patches".

I've recently had a go at this hack. I'll come clean and admit I still haven't finished everything (it's very hard), but I've covered enough to have a valid opinion. Here goes my feedback review thingy:



Overall, this hack is very professional and definitely worth playing. It has a few little issues here and there, but there's nothing that will really stop anyone from enjoying this game. (except maybe all the rage-quits from the hard challenges )

Excuse my English. I'm from Brazil.

First impression:
I would like to congratulate this excellent project.
I had the opportunity to download and play version 1.1 of "The New Worlds" directly on my DS. The first impression was that I found very interesting the idea of falling leaves in the world 1-1.

The feeling of sunset in the world 1, is different from the standard bright and vivid color, found in the first levels of most Mario games. Curious point.

The paths are well targeted by arrows. This allows the player does not miss.

The game:
"The New Worlds" for DS proved to be visually beautiful, but difficult for beginners. In a first gameplay test, all lives were lost in 10 minutes of game and a game-over occurred in level 1-2. In a normal occasion, it is usually possible to complete at least one castle and save the game. But this does not really mean difficulty of the "New Worlds" DS. May only be a need of adapt the player to the game. This is because the concept presented is new.

On the other hand, this game, in principle, does not appear to be recommended for players who wish to find more fun than challenge. The Star Coins are well positioned. But the feeling is that few mushrooms were found in the exploitation of levels.

This humble player will continue to explore the worlds of this release. And time will tell if "The New Worlds" for DS is really fun or just have frustrating challenges for the newbies.

I'm working on SMB. - The New Worlds 2.0 with many improved things. This is the progress so far:

Sorry, but I'm just giving out my opinion.


1. You don't have to say that sentence in bold every time you post
2. You can just say "I think" or "IMO", much faster
3. You don't have to be sorry for giving your point of view, as long as you keep it civil
4. (Off-topic) Your signature is 144 pixels high (at least on my PC it is), when the limit is 100, you should change it before a mod warns you about it


Now that being said, I have to say that I think Yoshi's Island style doesn't mesh well with NSMB style, like at all.
There's also a problem with the front background having a starker contrast with the back background than it does with the tileset, making it really difficult to tell apart the Front BG from the Tileset on a still picture.
Maybe you could use that forest background for MarioCopper instead, IMO it suits better NSMB style

The resize I made for Clone Tag Team 2 was kinda crappy. When I brought the background back in Endless Earth, I remade it to make it larger and cleaner looking. It took some elbow grease, so it'd be a shame for it to go to waste. If you'd like to use it, I'd be happy to share it with you.

I'm actually still working on this
Here's the progress so far:

But I also had to cancel the new Bowser Jr. fight in 6-T1 because my idea actually didn't work.

I'm going to release it soon, I just want to finish 8-7 and maybe work on some graphics.
