I dont like it. Were better of hacking NSMB in terms of contents. While it will be great to share levels, so far, it doesnt seem you will be able to have the freedom you have when hacking the game (using all sprites in the game, vertical levels, tc.)

I will still get it tho.

Yeah you´re right. For us "real" hackers it looks a bit too basic. But for the people who don´t hack games for them it´s something very good in my opinion.

True. I guess it will be alright if they do include all the sprites of SMB1, since ive seen some clever hacks of them working with only what that game has available.

Actually, the creator of the game said that this isnt a level creation tool, more like one to have fun. Makes sense. Now enjoy all the kaizo levels

Remember what Nintendo said in the past on an interview?
"In the future we probably will make a Level Editor. The difficulty here is that we want to make the editor as easy that beginners understand all the things and easily can create their levels, but advanced level creators should be able to make great and detailed things with it!"
IIRC they said something like that.
Yeah... Nintendos intention was to make a editor that is "enourmous", but also easy to use...
For me it looks like they've "chosen" the second thing.

That thing. But let's wait for some more trailers or the release.
What I like is that you can make also SMB-styled-levels and if you can share your levels I will get this (how much will it cost...?)
It sure is a very special thing for non-hackers.When I was a little child it was my dream to make my own levels and I drawed Mario Levels on a Paper^^
So I think for those non-hacker-people their dream come true now

Yeah, its good for casual players. But so far, its really limited. Im hoping you can make underwater, underground and castle levels too, but right now is really barebones. You can only make normal SMB levels with it, but as I said, the tool isn't for level design mainly. Is to have fun and make challenges.

I'm wondering just how far this Mario Maker will let us go.

Would we be able to make full-length Mario games or just levels?

Can we customize music, tilesets, backgrounds?

Can we make custom powerups?

If the answer to all these questions is 'yes', expect some news from me.

1. So far they have only showed levels.

2.Nope. So far what has been shown only MSB1 and NSMBU styles exist.

3.Im pretty sure this is a no based on the info they said during the e3

Only time will tell, I guess. I just thought that with that weird "skinny" mushroom, there might be some new customization.

Nintendo.

DLC.

Do DLC.

Please.

The Skinny Mushroom could...could...COULD BE A DLC.

You know about GTA? That was made from a bug.

Imagine the DLC oppertunities with this. Underground levels. Actual snow levels from NES Remix, maybe? (ice levels). The snow levels would appear like the Frosted Glacier levels in NSMBU style. Or maybe, elements from SMB3 or stuff? Like P-Switches? Imagine them with wings. Would be a cool idea for a level. Chase a P-Switch.

I just hope that kazio levels are effectively filtered or removed from the online sharing.

http://www.usgamer.net/articles/e3-2014-im-unreasonably-excited-about-mario-maker

So apparently, more tilesets will come in. Even from non mario game. Heck, even music creation like mario paint is planned.

Also more sprites. Its getting more complete. Maybe it will come closer to what we can do in the editor.
However, I dont see things like custom tilesets and larger levels.

If this comes close to what NSMBe can mostly do, I might think about purchasing it…

Okay, so...new sprites. Will the new sprites be removed from SMB mode since all sprites from SMB are already in Mario Maker? So example, switching to SMB mode gives you all SMB sprites, NSMBU mode NSMBU sprites like Flipruses or Icicles, SMB3 sprites like P-Switches or Hammer Bro. Suit blocks? Or is it gonna be MUCH awesomer? Okay, if it's the latter, then we'll get NSMBU, SMB3, SMB and other included style' Chargin' Chucks or Dead Hands

I like how it's laid out, keeping things simple. The ability to switch between SMB style and NSMBU style is nice too.

I hope it stays limited, though. So hopefully people will look for ways to do more advanced things... and find our boards.

I hope too. But what I find out right now that im sure it wont have is: multiple areas, pipe transfer, more than 50 sprites, custom graphics, edit the scenery in the way you want, and perhaps some more.
